With the uncertainty in the press conference today and reports I'm reading about the potential recovery time I think this is Tuas best option

Do not declare for the 2020 draft.

Sit out the 2020 season while rehabbing at Alabama

Then he's healthy to play in the Senior bowl as well as attend the combine and Alabama's pro day.

I’d rather be paid to sit instead of come back to the republic of gump but that’s me

Based on recent numbers

Being drafted 1st overall as a QB is $32 million gtd.

12th overall is $14 million gtd.

50th overall is $4 million gtd.

Saban will pull scholarship. That’s not part of the process.

You do all these leaks and decisions have nothing to do with Tua right? All this crap is coming from the Tagovailoa family.

Absolutely not. If he's picked in the teens he's looking at a signing bonus in the $8-12m range.

If that's in your pocket you take it - especially if you're not guaranteed to get everything you lost back. They're going to want him to prove his athleticism next year. This year he can just roll up in his chair and collect his check. It's a no-brainer.

Go to the NFL now. Start earning those years of service towards the pension and retirement benefits. He'll still be a first round pick due to the extra contract year. Maybe he ends up with a team like NE or NO where he can sit for a year without pressure and then start in 2021.

That young man needs to go get paid. He has earned it.

Agreed.

Go get paid by a decent team that doesn’t need you right now.

Sitting out is $0 guaranteed, and he wouldn't be getting any closer to his second contract where the real money is. Unless he has a terrible prognosis, he should go pro, get paid to rehab, learn the playbook, and get closer to the bigger payday.

He should only go back to school if he doesn't get a first round grade which is extremely unlikely based on what we know.

If he gets close to a guarantee from a team they'll pick him in the teens yes.

If not and late 1st to 2nd is in play the rehab plan could make him a significant amount of money.

Sean Payton is familiar with taking a risk on an injured QB. Sit, study and mentor under the Brees way for a year or two; the results could be incredible.

His draft stock isn't dropping from rehabbing and the risk of getting injured playing a 3rd of the snaps in the senior bowl or at the combine is almost non existent

You think he’ll be drafted first after sitting a year over Lawrence?

Lamar Jackson got just under 10MM. So, let's say Tua goes late first instead of top 5 and loses out on 22MM on his first contract.

Tua would have to get a contract comparable to Nick Foles (22MM a season) for his second deal to make up the difference. So the question Tua needs to ask himself is whether or not he believes he will be a 1st rd pick that will be better than Nick Foles. If he thinks that he should go pro.

This doesn't even take into account ever rising contracts and the time value of money.

Will he even get an invite to the Senior Bowl if he doesn't play a single down in the regular season?

I’m a Saints fan and would love to have Tua. It would be 2 years before he would have to start a game

If you know anything about the NFL, especially QB’s, you know the real money comes with the 2nd contract. By backing up his 2nd contract one year (let’s assume Tua is a very capable NFL QB), he does serious more financial damage waiting one more year.

Plus... let’s say a few teams have reservations about him, so he falls to #10 - #15 in the draft, that’s fantastic for his career. He’ll be going to a much better team than he would being a top 5 pick.

Why Saban could put him on med scholarship and no issues.

But either way go now and get paid
