All of the blame is on Tua, really, Saban has no blame at all?

No, I think Saban shares the blame, but not for playing Tua. Saban’s blame lies in not discipling Tua on when to give up on a play.

Sometimes Saban just needs to stfu

I’m not someone that’s constantly trying to bash him, but that’s certainly not a good look

The decision to go ahead with the surgery was ultimately his and his family's. He's an adult and could have chosen to heal his ankle naturally.

Saban is full of BS. Not giving up on plays is what distinguish QBs. You wouldn't have a Brett Favre or John Elway if they gave up on plays.

Two of them, maybe all three could have been avoided.

I don’t know. When a guy who suffers ankle injuries like that starts having those injuries they become chronic. Only a couple of years of rest will really cure it. I played rec ball with a guy who had chronic ankle injuries. Even if he went a year without one he was still prone to it.

Agreed

quote:

Saban: "Both times that (Tua) was injured this year -- and I don't mean this to be a negative -- but sometimes you just have to know when to give up on a play. .

I understand what he’s trying to say. But I dont remember him having a problem, when Tua would scramble for his life, fighting off and breaking tackles, then chunk it down field for a positive play. Only a problem when it’s a negative. Can’t have it both ways

Probably because there was someone open down field. He's referring to when no one is open down field.

Come on man, Tua had never heard of that surgery, honestly most people in this world probably hadn’t. They put that surgery in front of that kid, knowing he would jump on it. This is such a bad look for you guys, I understand defending your coach, but good grief.

Nobody would’ve ever known if it was going to be chronic, kid was having surgery the next day, but yet it was his family’s and his decision, yeah right.

He better learn it in the NFL or he won't last long there either.
Burrow does it a lot too.
He's been better at it this year than last but he's taken some unnecessary shots.

Neither had most people. I'm sure the surgery was explained to him and his family and, after other options were presented, they chose to go that particular route.

Tua holds the ball way too long, like Deshaun Watson

He's right. Both injuries this year were due to Tua waiting too long to throw it away.

yeah its a shame he was out there trying to run away on one leg, 28 days after having a hole drilled in his ankle. Or as Nick Saban said "Too Bad"

Just throwing this out there, but didn’t he have surgery the next day? Yeah it was really their decision, laughable.

Does anyone else remember when the Great One was criticized at LSU for leaving starting QB Matt Mauck in during a blowout, calling a QB run, and having Mauck hurt his ankle and miss several games? I believe that was 2002.

Afterward the BR media and tigerroar.com, the predecessor to tigerdroppings, were on fire about it, a melt as you say.

So because the surgery happens the next day, that automatically tells you that it wasn't his decision? He was in the locker room after the Tennessee game confidently telling his teammates he would be back for LSU. This after his father was grabbed from the stands and taken to the locker room before the first half had ended. It's obvious that in the locker room, when Tua's dad came in, they explained to him the diagnosis as well as the options that were on the table.

The other side of the coin... one of my best friends swam at auburn, top 20 in the world, with a real shot at making the Olympics. Auburn and David Marsh's bitch arse denied him surgery to repair his torn shoulder, thus sending him into a gray shirt and early retirement. It gets better, your athletic department is so fricking petty they started drug testing a man unable to physically compete. Tried to pull his scholly over cannabis use.
