Before scrambling or after? Can’t gave it both ways.

Tua was glorified for throwing people open. How many times were WRs covered, flushed out of pocket, throwing a dime and getting hit after? Every game! Once again, you can’t have it both ways. Btw, the play he was hurt vs MSU, he threw it away. It was a common play that happens multiple times in a game and wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. Saban saying he was trying to do too much. Tua posted on Instagram that he played against LSU with one leg. Saban seems to think he was 90 percent. What we can surmise is Bama can't accept a loss like a man.

He threw it away too late. That's the problem. Taking unnecessary hits. It was the exact same thing he did to get hurt against Tennessee.

If he slept maybe 6 hours, his family and himself researched all possible options and the treatment that he received in around 4 hours, or he said, “whatever you think is best coach”... You tell me, with no bias, what you honestly think happened? Take off your bama goggles for one honest answer.

If this is such a huge problem why did saban wait to bring it up now? It’s not like the kid hasn’t been the qb for a good while.

Saban wants his cake and eat it too. You can't recruit the best play makers in the country and tell them they should not try to make plays. You can't turn that drive off and on.

We pay the man to win championships. That's very difficult to do when all you're concerned with is if a kid is going to get injured on the next play.

I don't fully endorse the OP, but this is a bogus take.

This was an already injured player.

Coaches do have a responsibility too balance winning with other considerations. Surely you know this and are being stupid for some other reason.

They've been trying to get Tua to know when to concede plays for his entire career. You love that he always wants to throw a TD, but you also know that it causes sacks and INTs.

He'd been doing better this year at hitting check downs, but he never quite could accept throwing the ball into the stands. Honestly, I'm not sure I can remember more than 2-3 times he did it his entire career.

I think they sat down with the team doctor, went through the options, and probably made a decision within 2 hours (probably before the end of the game). Probably siding with the option that got him back on the field ASAP.

I believe many of us have been bringing this up quite a bit since the injury.

Maybe to the earth at large, but not to the guy who wants a lot of coffee

I'm the guy who wants a lot of coffee

If this was known why have him in there up 35-7 on a bum leg, trying to make a pass with less than two minutes in the half. Then blame it on his aggressiveness, does nobody see the irony here.

Pretty long chain of posts and I've not read all. But it seems that if Nick had the opinion espoused, then all the more reason to not have the guy in the game under the circumstances. Failing a decision to yank 2-A at the critical juncture, you at least have him simply hand the ball off or run some other play that doesn't have the kid being chased down by 2 defenders (even if said defenders hail from "...a vastly inferior opponent..." like Miss State. NOT MY WORDS)

I think a bigger issue may present itself going forward with recruiting the Polynesian guys. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall as nick explained the situation to 2-A's parents and family! Alabama is not the only SEC team with Poly guys as LSU has made inroads as well in that regard.

Now, LSU (and others) have fodder on Nick to the effect: "...he doesn't have the kids best interest at heart. See what he did to Tua! Plus similar conduct while at Miami indicates he simply doesn't care about anything but putting another notch in his belt. Do you really want to entrust your kid to a coach who will sacrifice anyone and everyone to advance his own ego..."!!!

P/S: I posted this then jumped to the post, only to see the prior post by AU4real35. So yes, I see the irony and obviously, agree somewhat with the overall premise of the initiating post.

He's been trying to get him to play smarter since his freshman year.
