I agree he would never leave and is a perfect fit for that school right now. Put another way, nobody is coming to buyout Coach O from LSU.

Sumlin had a heisman trophy winner, that he didn't recruit. Kinda hard to compare.
Sumlin made a kid he didn't even recruit into a Heisman winner.
Then you guys made him an alcoholic and ran him out of town.

He somehow screwed up having both Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray. Then he went and ruined Khalil Tate.

Sumlin came in and coached up Manziel to a heisman winning qb. What has Jimbo done with Mond?
Only thing Jimbo has done with Mond is coach up his ego. "Best quarterback in the SEC" my arse.

Year - Coach - Comp% - Rating - TD/INT - Rush Yards/G
2017 - Sumlin - 51.5 - 108.8 - 1.333 - 34.0
2018 - Fisher - 57.3 - 135.0 - 2.667 - 36.5
2019 - Fisher - 64.0 - 140.8 - 3.000 - 40.0
This is absolutely coaching and development.

The buyout doesn’t serve as insurance to keep Jimbo from leaving - it only cost A&M a lot if they want to replace him. Jimbo can walk out the door on A&M any day he wants to take any other offer he wants and pay A&M $0 for doing so.

For $60 million he is trying to get fired. He can retire with that and really does have to do anything now.

I realize that. Pretty sure Jimbo's is technically not even a buyout, it's a fully guaranteed $75M/10yr contract.
But then again, I don't really know what the premise of this thread was to begin with.

You spelled KINGSBURY wrong. The next QB Sumlin coaches up will be his first.

I probably would if they had a hole the size of a freight truck in the bottom of it when they bought it.

A starting QB has progressed from his Soph. to Sr. seasons?
Pay Jimbo his money.

Correct, his buyout is the full amount remaining on his contract.

Mond is a junior
That doesn't change my point that a QB progressing over 3 years isn't exactly "coaching".
But keep on paying Jimbo.

Also unsure of the thread’s premise except to point out how expensive it would be to eliminate certain coaches who some may deem overpaid. But the post to which I replied suggested that large buyouts served as a penalty that had to be paid for a coach to be poached. That’s simply not true - at least not true in Jimbo’s contract. His contract a one way insurance policy protecting him but not his employer.

What gets lost in all of this is it's State money. They're paying money that could go to education in the state.
I really can't fricking stand the money aspect of CFB. Throw the whole NCAA away.
