We Need An 8 Team Playoff

It just makes the most sense, yes there always be people who compalin and there will be controversy but with 8 there's far less.
Just look at this possibility
12-1 LSU (loss SECCG vs Georgia)
12-1 Minnesota (loss B1GCG vs Ohio State)
13-0 Baylor
Now you could say well of course Baylor they won their conference. However the playoffs are supposed to be the four best teams and that means no invisible rules.
Do we really think Baylor is better then LSU? At the same time how can you leave an undefeated team out? An 8 team playoff solves a good portion of this.
Also finally make the first round home games for the higher seeds so the final weeks are still meaningful

Agree, all power 5 conference have a team, plus the Group of 5 like Central Florida has the right to get their arse beat again every year

4 is not enough especially if you have a scenario where you have five conference champs from the SEC, B1G, ACC, PAC-12, and Big XII with the same record

So you would put in a 9-3 or 8-4 PAC 12 champion over a 12-1 SEC team because they won their conference? Would your three at-large spots be reserved for the Group of 5, or anyone?

No, I really just meant the opportunity to have all conferences represented, if they had a worthy team.

If they’d ever hypothetically go to an eight-team playoff, then they need to place an emphasis on conference championships. So now, under the new hypothetical situation, Power 5 Conference Champs automatically make it in, then the best of the rest. However, I recognize this still doesn’t completely solve teams that don’t win their conference and make it in. *cough* Bama *cough*

There’s already an 8 team playoff.
Penn state just played Minnesota.
LSU just played bama.
Oregon and Utah will play.
LSU and Georgia will play.
Ohio state will play somebody in the champ game.
Win and you’re in. Lose and you’re out.
Bama’s out. Penn state is out.

In what scenario would you ever not have 5 conference champs from those conferences?

In that case it should be tOSU, Clemson, Baylor, and Georgia.
Win. Your. Conference.

At most 6
Top 2 get a bye

I agree under the circumstance that 5 spots are P5 Conference Champs, 1 spot is highest ranked G5 team, and 2 at larges.
First round games are on college campuses

I don’t think that 5 of the spots should be P5 conference champs.
Most years it would prob work out that way though.

Then you have the same argument you have now if that 9th team is a conference champ.
You know why nobody complains about the NFL playoffs? Win your division and you are in. Doesn’t matter if you finish 7-9 like Carolina did that year

Or you can be Alabama and run the score up on avg teams, play 2 good teams, split them, sit your arse home during championship week and some how when a championship
Seems fair

I’m just saying that it would be hard to put a 3 loss conference champ in over a 1 loss team.

7 teams
Power 5 conference winners
2 at large teams
Round 1) at large teams play each other in wild card like matchup
Round 2) Wildcard round winner and 3 worst power 5 teams play first round (top two have a bye)
Round 3) Semifinals
Round 4) Championship
Rewards conference winners, rewards top teams with a bye, allows the committee to still have a say, shuts teams like UCF up. Everyone wins.

Yes I would, make winning your conference matter, then the top group of 5 team is #6, and # 7 & 8 are the next two highest rated non champion teams, no matter which conference they are in.
