In my experience it is sorta understood that you don’t talk any after that.
One of the coolest things of being an alum / fan IMO.

Depends. If you're just walking past, then yes, it's understood to just be a "war eagle" and you're done. In my experience if you're at a bar or something there's usually a little back and forth and then done.
I love this too though. It's fun getting a war eagle in different countries too.

Depends on their age...

I have recently had a lot of encounters at the grocery store or somewhere else and see someone with a AU hat and say War Eagle and they look at me like I am crazy...even had one guy at the gas station kinda chuckle and not say it back. I told him if he is going to wear the O and B he better damn well learn to say War Eagle.
For the most part though, the real Auburn fans and people, you are right...WDE and nuff said

All for a War Eagle if I’m somewhere different. I’ll look at you crazy if you do it in an Auburn Publix or something.

I think I sometimes say it too aggressively and startle people... especially in airports. I travel for work so I have lots of opportunities. Still haven’t mastered a way of saying it that conveys “we have this awesome common bond and love the same school” and yet “it’s us (Auburn) against the world... f***’em...”

I was in the Dallas airport on the way to LA for the AU v FSU game. As I walked to my connecting flight I saw a guy wearing an AU cap and I said War Eagle.
He looked at me like I had spoken Chinese.

I've been that guy. i live in Indiana, sometimes it takes a second to register when someone actually says it as you dont hear it as often as you did down south. Hell, half these fricks around here have no clue where Auburn even is...let alone know about "War Eagle".

I have said to a guy in an airport as he was wearing a Hat that had AU on it and he looked at me like I was crazy...I pointed to the hat and he said he bought it because he liked the way it looked...I then explained to him about War Eagle and he thought it was cool but a little crazy....
I have been War Eagle'ed in many places around the world and that is cool but throws you off a little sometimes...

In ‘13 while we were in LA we took a city tour, the driver was from England and about half way through the day he asked “do you know all these people?” He had heard about 100 War Eagle greetings already everywhere we went.
