Nope. You choose not to read so you don't have to actually argue a bad point.

My guess is Gus is trying to duplicate the 2017 team, but it’s not happening, and it will be his biggest mistake. That was statistically his most complete team, Top 5 defense and offense,

And he still lost 4 games

It would help to not play in the SEC West.

Gus does really suck against rivals but so did Tubbs at the end, and Chiz except for this one particular year.

I dont like Gus but I am really hoping he can end 10-2. I guess I'm pulling for that jackass not to be himself.

As far as coaching hires go, yeah I think it’s more of a crapshoot than you want to acknowledge.

Absolutely this. Saban isn't falling out of the clouds to everybody. 90% of this board would have fired Dabo after year 3.

I don't think he was meaning that as a purely Gus thing, more of an indictment of Auburn's mentality in general.

I don’t think the stat reflects very well on our program. Sustained success brings credibility to our program. It would be hard to say Gus hasn’t been successful this decade, but the success is sporadic at best, not allowing us to reap any rewards from those seasons.

Tubs coached against maybe 4 “good” Alabama teams and went 2-2. 99 was a good performance against a better team, 01 was shameful.

Okay, so how many years is an acceptable limit to determine that you did not in fact get the lucky draw on the coach?

quote:

Alabama went outside the good ol boy system with Franchione & Price as well, Shula was just a stop gap. They would have been happy winning 8-10 a year for a while after 2003–2006.

I think you mean 7-8 wins a year. They did have some lower lows in those years, but averaging it out over those years, our current run with Malzahn really isn't all that different. Record against rivals is pretty similar.

quote:

Texas, UT and UF all have those high standards too. They’ve churned through coaches and gotten worse results than us, guess they should have just had fans with an even higher standard?

Yea, this is kind of proving my point more than you think.

The fear among Auburn fans of becoming a UT or Texas if we got rid of an average coach is so prevalent, that they are willing to accept mediocrity instead. You're willing to accept 8 wins a year out of fear that we may strike out on a string of coaches.

Shouldn’t have lost to LSU, and the last 2 KJ was broke, but I get what you’re saying, loss is a loss.

I recently watched 2010 IB with my 8 year old. Watching it play by play I felt like I saw some 2014-2019 Gus play calling. You actually start feeling the emotions from that day again in that awful first 1.5 quarters.

You do start to think, while it was an awesome year, there were some really nasty struggles that would have melted this board if it was today.

Which is really a vote of no confidence in the AD. I doubt our admin would let us get Tennessee bad.

Except we won 10 games and the toughest division in football two years ago.

Last year was a step back and we won 8. This year we already have 8 essentially in pocket with two home games and bowl game left. 10 wins is certainly in play.

Oh shite, did we win again? I need to know in case I have to get rid of my SECCG and NC gear?

By the way, I remember Gus Offense starting out like a runaway freight train, and then sink like the Titanic ala, Uga 2013, LSU 2017 and FSU NC game, Not that I remember that game in Pasadena very well. I have heard that game never happened.

Now it seems Quarter 2 is the problem, or that was a big write up recently anyway.

Generally, all quarters are a big problem right now.
