This! Moved here during their "first championship" season (1984 I believe, the one they cheated for and had to forfeit games, IIRC). The Gator fans I was around were the most obnoxious, unrealistic, and illogical bunch I have ever seen. Took three (3) years before I actually met one that attended the school. When I moved here, the Gators were my third favorite team. Not even remotely close anymore.

they were the worst set of fans. Wearing their tacky arse hats and always obnoxious when they visited your stadium.

I don’t want to call bullshite but I’m very sketchy of you memory. Been going to games since the 70’s and don’t really remember fans from opposing team being molested, yelled at, or any of that shite.
Either you egged the fans on or were hyper sensitive. Not to say we can’t be assholes but that goes with any teams fan base.
Case in point is LSU, and Auburn fans now. You get hot and think your shite doesn’t stink. But, if that really did happen then that’s to bad. I like to think we are civil to opposing fans win or lose. If you’re a jerk then all bets are off.

I was there in Gainesville to witness the 56-3 whipping the gators put on the Tigers. Cannot recall if they had 2 or 3 guys rush foe over 100 yards each.
The bad - not even close, they were the most arrogant fan base I have ever run across.
The good - 6 foot blonds were everywhere. The bars Wes went to looked like something that would be seen on MTV (back then).

A handful of times - 92, 96, and 99 SEC Championship games, 98 games in Tuscaloosa and the 99 game in Gainesville.
Never had an issue with them really. A few obnoxious ones here and there, but that was about it.

Oh, I was also in the Florida section at Tiger Stadium when LSU knocked them off 28-21 in 97. They were pretty cool then as well, if not a little shocked.

The difference between the Alabama fan base and the 90's versions of Florida fan base: old money, new money. And it was never more quantified than then. Just awful.

No offense to the op, but this is the worst topic on the Rant and this is the third thread about it. Only snowflakes complain about fans

Everyone cheated but the old SEC boys couldn't stand seeing UF win. People forget but UF won the SEC in '84 and '85 (on the field).
Interestingly Auburn was the main program that supported UF not being stripped. Tennessee on the other hand led the charge. That's why they're 1-14 vs UF now and been owned by UF ever since.

IMO, Alabama is a distant 4th to those 3. Wait until it's anyone but Bama, if anyone ever begins to dominate.

I think there is quite a bit of misremembering ITT. Who in the hell wants to hang around old money anyway? They are either boring or entitled. New money earned that shite.

Weren't stripped of anything by the SEC in '85.It was part of the probation terms from '84.

Neither LSU nor Georgia could match the level of trash talking and combativeness and that is saying something.
Echoing their coach.
I like Spurrier so much better post Florida. Humbled him ever so slightly.

The thing is, Florida I want you to be swaggering trash talking ruffians. Makes the conference more interesting.

I don’t prefer it, but I don’t care if they talk a little trash, as long as the effort and attitude is right.
