What is yalls opinion about neutral site rivalry games?

I would like to see the other 12 sec teams play a neutral site rivalry game

I think neutral sites are awesome in general. They are where championships are played for.
I suppose season ticket holders might have another opinion.

I much prefer on campus games to neutral site games in NFL stadiums. It works if it has the weight of tradition, like TWLOCP, but it can't and should not be forced.

Georgia/Florida still does theirs in Jacksonville
There used to be several neutral site rivalry games:
LSU @ Arkansas was played in Little Rock
Alabama vs Auburn was played in the Iron Bowl in Birmingham
I think one of the Mississippi schools rivalries used to be played in Jackson.
The reason most of these ended was that the home stadiums of these schools became much larger and nicer than the fields at the neutral sites. The original reason for these neutral sites was that they were played in large cities with large stadiums, but most of the big SEC stadiums now hold at least 80k, so that doesn’t make much sense anymore.

I tend to agree with you, but I suspect that you and I are in the minority. The game in Jacksonville is cool, but it's not as cool as the games in Athens.

I like neutral site games because it gets college players used to playing on a nfl stadium

Regardless of the result, I would have much rather home and home'd with UNC, NC State, and ECU instead of playing in Charlotte like 5 times over the past 10 years.
I'd definitely hate playing Clemson in Charlotte as opposed to playing in Clemson or Columbia.

I could see the benefits of moving the WLOCP to campus. Otherwise, Army-Navy and Texas-OU are the only rivalry games that should be played at a neutral site.

A year ago I would have thought the game would stay in Jax. Now I’m not so sure. The AJC had an unscientific poll that showed that only something like 37% of UGA fans want it to stay in Jax. Plus Kirby seems to like the idea of another recruiting weekend in Athens. Older big time donors are reportedly getting tired of all the hassle involved with attending this game. Horrible traffic patterns, forced detours after the game thru less than desirable areas, price gouging for parking and food, and surly staff at the stadium are taking a toll on people’s patience. If I were to bet I think it’s moving.

Depends on the "Rivalry" and the location of said game.
MU-kU at Arrowhead makes a ton of sense.
MU-Illinois in STL, Ton of sense.
MU-Arky at Arrowhead, not so much. Although I give it a pass being the Friday Thanksgiving Weekend with students out of town.
I'd rather see home and homes though.

Hard to believe now but in 1968 there was a day/night double header with LSU-Alabama in the first game and Tennessee-Auburn at night at Legion Field in Birmingham.

State-Ole Miss was in Jackson from 1973-1990. Otherwise it has been Oxford-Starkvegas with a few exceptions in the early 1900’s when it moved around some.
Neutral site games need to go the way of 8 track stereo with a few exceptions.
The WLOCP is a great one and I would be sad to see it move from JAX. The Red River Shoot Out belongs in DFW with UT-OU. Army-Navy will always be in PHL, NYC or BAL.

But it’s Athens. You can always walk downtown to the bars, clubs and restaurants and party while you wait for the traffic to thin out. And I’ve yet to hear of anyone paying almost $100 for a parking space in a packed, dusty lot. Almost any advance parking is expensive in Jax

I hate them. We give up 2 home games a year due to this. 1 game a year to A&M at Jerry's World, and then every other year in Little Rock against Mizzou.
We have 2 home SEC games in Fayetteville this year. It's lame.

I’d be in favor of a neutral site rivalry game, if you could play it at a third SEC schools stadium. Imagine the Iron Bowl at the Swamp or the DSOR at Neyland or LSU and whoever their rival is at Jordan-Hare.

I like them for other teams but I hate when LSU loses a home game because of an early season neutral site game.
