Its coming around but last year with Stidham at the helm...yeah. They were poor

Same people forgot all that and are now trashing the Qb.

Stidham was average. Welcome to college football in the SEC

If Stidham had half the heart of Sean White he could have taken his game to the next level.

What I'm saying is he could be even better if he had heart.

Does he? That's cool if so.

Vibe I got was that he never really connected to AU like some others and that by the time he was playing for us we were kind of just minor league ball for what he wanted to do next.

That might not be fair, and I hope it isn't. I don't dislike him and would be perfectly happy if he goes on to be a pretty loyal AU guy, success in the NFL or not.

The way Belichick re-entered Brady back into the game in the 4th despite still having a 14 point lead shows how much he trusts Stidham.

No its not fair at all.

Everything Stidham has said, either during the difficult last year at AU, or during his interviews before his draft day, or even after, has been positive with his experience at Auburn.

There were times I expected him to say something negative about Gus' offense and how he was used, but he never did. I even remember him as actually being complimentary in his time at Auburn.

So as he has said he is an Auburn man, and I assume an Auburn graduate, I feel we need to support him as he tries to establish himself in the NFL.

He never bashed Gus because he was still trying to get drafted. It was his fiancée and uncle that did.

Actually NE had a 23 pt lead before the pick 6 Stidham threw. lol.

I think the move is more of Belichick now realizes he is banking on a raw rookie to keep his team in the playoff hunt should Brady go down. Bringing in a more experienced guy may give Belichick more comfort moving forward.

Alternate option, Stidham can spend more time with offense instead of serving as "scout team" quarterback

Belichick:

Jarrett’s been with us all the way through, practicing every day,” Belichick said. “He’s gotten, intermittently, a lot of reps in the offense depending on the situation, from week-to-week, preseason, regular season, depending on what we were doing at that particular time, whether it be preseason games or training camp practices or regular-season practices. He’s come a long way.”

Looks like they're keeping him then.

James Devlin just went on IR and the Pats used that roster spot to pick up Kessler.

My guess is they still like Stidham's potential but realized he's more of a project than they thought and wouldn't be ready to go ful time, so they wanted some insurance in case Brady goes down

Yeah, I feel 2017 and 2018 JS were completely different players. 2017, he was still out there putting in the work to improve his draft stock. Played very well most of the time and could come back in 2018 to show improvement in certain areas to bolster his stock.

Instead,he gets engaged to a girl with a filthy rich daddy involved in pro sports and thinks (rightly so, probably) he has it made. The demeanor on the sideline of, specifically, the UT game made me think that he didn't really care if he was going to get to the next level.

Maybe I'm being unfair as well, but that is just the way I viewed him last year. It made it all the more frustrating knowing he had the good side that was borderline elite.

Oh well. Hope he does well in the league.

Patriots beat writers have written pretty glowing things about him, “he’s the QB of the post TB era”. Kessler could be a short term backup if Tom gets sick or hurt. Stidham is a rookie with the highest expectations from a coach, franchise and position perspective. Give him more than 4 months in the NFL to actually be worthy of a spot for the Patriots. Jets have a good defense too.
