Question - If LSU beats Texas 20-13, are you as excited as you are now?

Would still be a huge win against a good team on the road, but more in line with LSU wins of the past - grind it out, stuff them on defense, hold on late.

I would have been happy with a 1 point victory.

Still excited like every other big win LSU had in the Miles era where LSU leans on defense to win, but calls offense a fraud and wonders if the passing game will ever get there against legit opponents

Would have taken the win in any way.
I think us showing we can keep up in a shootout on offense is promising.
I just can't imagine we will play that poorly on D all year.
That is where my excitement comes in.

Probably not.
Because the whole world wouldn't be in shock that LSU has a passing attack that produced numbers never before seen in Austin.

It was nice to win one of these with an elite offense.

Doubt it.
There’s a ton of excitement because of the offense, and rightfully so.
In a one game sample size it’s fair for LSU fans to acknowledge the defensive effort wasn’t great, but feel pretty confident that the defense can be better and perform closer to what they’re accustomed to at LSU.

Not nearly.
I expected the offense to put up a lot of points but I did not expect to give up 400+ yds and 38 pts

Still excited, but you have to remember, 3 yards and a cloud of dust vs what we've seen these 2 games this year is EXCITING.
We passed the ball on 3rd and 17 trying to move the chains. With a 7 point lead. With 2 minutes and change left in the game.

LSU fans got what they wanted. A pass happy offense. The problem is Texas probably should have won that game since they whiffed on two separate 4th and goal attempts. That's 14 points off the board.
Defense looked lost out there.

I would have been happy with any result of winning. However, when you do something like we saw with our QB and receivers that's basically, well, never happened before here. It does make it a little more special.

Nope.
Before getting gassed, the defense held Texas to 7 points.
The issue was the LSU offense scoring too fast! JoeJoe will fine tune the pace to keep the defense fresh.
(Plus there isn't an offensive coach in the SEC like Herman.)

I really hope the Tigers QB goes pro after this season so that the Longhorns don't have to play against that gunslinger next season in BR.
If he keeps up what he did on this past Saturday, he will probably be the #1 pick in the draft.

I think were I an LSU fan I would be LESS concerned with a 20-13 win than a 45-38 win.

No. Part of the excitement is that we beat that Big 12 at its own game.

SummerOfGeorge:
Fair question. I am kind of happy LSU won this type of game. IN modern football, teams with a good QB, good WR and good Playcaller can put points on teams with elite Defensive talent. I remember Geno Smith, T. Austin and Dana H from WVU putting 580 yards and 470 passing on LSU's 2011 team That team had 6 NFL DB's, 2 first rounders in Claiborne and Reid, 1 who would have been a 1st rounder in Mathieu. 2 first rounders on the DL with Brockers and Mingo, etc. Texas has a excellent QB, elite WR and elite Play caller in Herman. I tip my hat to UT.
But in the past, when LSU was down more than 1 score in the 4th quarter against a team with even a good defense, I had no confidence LSU could score. I sat in Tiger Stadium in 2016 and watched Alabama win 10-0. When the Game was 3-0 I felt LSU had a chance, maybe get a Turnover, punt return and get a FG to tie it. Go to OT, get a sack on first down, Bama gets behind the chains, misses a FG and LSU kicks one to win 6-3. Stop and think about that. 6 to fricking 3 was the only way I thought LSU could win. Once the game was 10-0, LSU was DUNNNN.
I don't care how good a defense you have, you play a team with a QB that has 3 good WR and a coach that knows how to run the RPO and spread game, they are going to score points on you, unless they have turnovers. LSU can now win those shootout type of games. Over the last 10 years, LSU had no chance to do so based on the Structure of the offense.
Btw, I think back in the day you were on rivals, always a good poster back then. I don't post to often even though I have been a member on TD since 2012.

INDEED.... because that'd mean our defense play a damn good game for all four quarters.

I like defensive games, but perception wise this is much better. Media and fans love big numbers and QB play. It gets eyes a lot more than a good defensive performance.

Win is a win
I watched Auburn beat State 3-2 in 08' and it was an old fashioned SEC defense game.
