I see a lot of big boys on that team. But in your opinion, was Auburn rather MEH against Oregon or was Oregon good enough to warrant their ranking? What is your honest confidence level in this year's team?

Oregon had a bunch of WR out for that game so while I can’t speak for Auburn or Oregon, I will say this; Oregon shet the bed trying to run a 150LB RB up the middle on a key down right into Auburns teeth. Dumbest play all night.

I think it was definitely a slow start for both sides of the ball. Auburn outscored Oregon 24-7 after the 1st Q. I have a ton of confidence in the defense people talk about our D Line and rightfully so its probably the best unit in the country, what people forget about with our defense is that our secondary is full of speed, size and experience. They are really overlooked. The offense will go as Bo and Gus go. Will it be 2013 & 2014 Gus or the bad 2015 / 2016 Gus.

Long story short defense will be GREAT

Offense is week to week.

It seems like they came out with a lot of bravado. They wanted to prove they were just as fast as the SEC and just as strong, which they did for the better part of 2 quarters. But after they shot their load, they seemed pretty average. As the game wore on, it was evident they lacked the depth/conditioning necessary to compete for 4 quarters

They’re a good team. It’s impossible to say if they were worth their ranking at this point, but I expect them to contend for the PAC12 championship.

We are a work in progress with more potential than I thought.

Oregon has good team speed and a good offensive line.

They had a great initial game plan, but AU adjustments were better.

Nix cares.

The new LBs are are more athletic.

The offensive line must improve.

We had so many presnap penalties.

Overall, great win, but we will know more by the end of September.

Both. Honest confidence level? I don't know. I'm not suprised our team beat Oregon, I'm suprised Gus did

pretty much this.

But, Bo Nix will make some big mistakes this year. Its just going to happen. He is young and wants to be a gunslinger. The hype and pressure on him at such a young age will make him try some things that he shouldn't. Auburn fans need to prepare themselves for that.

I still like him a ton and love the fact that Auburn has found a 3 year starter. WE have not had that in a while.

They have us ranked in the top 10 right now and Im not sure that is accurate. I think we are a 13-16 team right now. If our offensive line somehow steps up this year and we get the running game going, we could be a top 10 team. Right now we are a building team and we are building it around a freshman QB who has the pedigree and will to be great.

I think the others nailed it, but I’ll add.
Oregon- they will stay ranked really high because outside of Washington and Utah they will be more talented than the rest of their schedule, and the new DC they have from Boise is really good. Herbert is legit as well and I just don’t see him losing very much. They had a great game plan against us to neutralize our lines, and on top of it we were breaking in a new qb.
Like others said once we adjusted they were done, and to top it off we wore them out with depth and tempo. If that game went another quarter we would’ve won by 20 because they were completely out of gas

Auburn- meh start, but frankly we do that under Gus and with a true freshman qb it didn’t surprise me at all. We didn’t adjust as quickly as I’d like, but once we did it was just a matter of if we had enough time for our freshman qb to get us the points.
Biggest concern was our coverage teams on special teams were flat awful, and we can’t give up easy yards and points like that if we want to win in our league as our o will struggle a times with Bo getting his feet wet

I think we are Solid across the board but nothing spectacular at any one spot. We will be in most every game but the offense will get bogged down against LSU, Bama, UGA if Gus keeps trotting out the same vanilla offense that hasnt worked since 2015. Our special teams coverage units have been atrocious for 4 years and have cost us games and will cost us a game against a team with like our better talent. Nix's legs will keep us intersting on offense. We need Schwartz back desperately due to his speed and to keep teams from Doubling Seth Williams.

I must be hanging around Louisiana people too much because "her-bert" instead of "Hay-Bear" seems so wrong.

Nothing to add to the topic just needed to say that somewhere.

Oregon is talented and has top recruits on the field, they’ve had solid recruiting classes,#7 this year, #13 last year. Harbert is likely a Top 5 draft pick next year.

Kevin Steele made adjustments to slow them down, and AU’s running game finally broke through their d-line and that was that.

Know I’m not an Auburn fan but I thought Auburn would destroy them. Oregon earned my respect. If that’s their only loss of the season assuming Auburn isn’t a three or four loss team at the end of the season they deserve consideration for the playoffs

Oregon looks chock full of 6'5" wiry, salty white boys. They'll win the PAC-12.

Overall, I think Auburn will be okay. The defense is probably good enough to keep them in just about every game IMO. The new LBers we put out there impressed the hell out of me. The Dline is the strength and the secondary has decent size and speed all around. I am worried they may blow some mental assignments here and there.

Now, for the offense, I just dont know. Some of the playcalling Saturday left me scratching my head. We have talent at wr and RB. Just not sure how much depth is there. And the Oline, while experienced, has to play much better to compete with LSU, UGA, and BAMA. Bo has all the potential to be great, but expect some freshman mistakes. If the line doesn't get better, those mistakes will be much more frequent and may possibly damage him physically and mentally. That's obviously worst case.

Overall the potential to be really good is there. If we can avoid injuries at some spots where depth is an issue, we should be able to compete with just about anyone.

Nix threw 2 interceptions basically in the red zone. Malzahn has a typical horrible first half of play calling. If Malzahn called the 1st half like the 2nd half we score more.

Given all that it was the first game. Let’s give both teams a break, and Nix is a true freshmen. I certainly think Nix will make some mistakes this year, but he’s also a hell of a gamer already.

I agree with a lot you said but not this. We adjusted plenty fast enough.

Players took the game over after the half but some of the adjustments were already in
