Advocate : Raised fees, layoffs at LSU not an option for budget shortfall
I know some of the general underlying economic reasons (energy revenue decline, poor planning at the state government, etc) but how does it continue to get worse? Is there any solution in sight?
From the outside it seems like a terrible concoction of revenue decline and idiots in charge. Is there anything else to it? Really hope things work out.

Not to jump down a never ending political hole but didn't a lot of it start with Jindal? Or was that just coincidental that he was in office when energy revenues began to decline?

F King will get replaced as head of the school

Hate to say it but much of Louisiana woes came from Bobby Jindal. Facing the same thing in Mississippi from Tate Reeves.

Bad public leadership in all parts, government and F. King, but the athletic department is running stronger than ever.

Is it a school issue or a state issue? Or both?
Sorry, I just randomly see these articles and I'm curious as to who everyone holds responsible and how optimistic folks are that the issues can be fixed anytime soon.
Sucks for LSU people because it has to be frustrating as hell to watch unfold.

That would be a very cutting remark... except from what I can gather this all started when Bobby Jindal was Governor and the Republicans controlled the legislature.
Now, for the record, I am not saying that Louisiana Republicans are worse than Louisiana Democrats. I'm saying there is a good reason when you type in Louisiana politics it autofills to Louisiana politics corruption.

Bad leadership and declining oil prices did not help.

This board is a fvckin cesspool. Not every thread is a GD troll. It was a legitimate question that had nothing to do with football or athletics.
Every SEC athletic program could be pointed at for having uber nice athletic facilities while students pay more and more for tuition. That'd be dumb as hell to poke fun at.

Piyush let us down. He had potential, but was really bad.

I would just add that there are actually well adjusted people out there who are fans of various SEC programs, who do not take pleasure in the academic struggles of rival programs. While some of these folks may joke about the athletic failures, they may not necessarily relish in seeing yet another institution of education in the South struggle. Probably a hard concept for some to understand.
