Van Steudaman out. Weird timing.

7 regional appearances in 8 seasons there. State only had 8 appearances prior to her arrival. But you have to keep up with the Jones’s in the SEC.

That kind of sucks. I thought she was well liked by the team and MSU seemed to be much improved in the meat grinder that is the SEC.

Aw man, I liked Van.
Oh well, there's only coaches who have been fired or will be fired. It's just the business

Consistent but still bottom half of the SEC.

She’s one of the best and most well connected recruiters in the country. Y’all should have just extended her. It’s likeky moving backwards now.

Much improved. We've finished dead last or next to last all but one season under her. We have 7 out of 8 regional appearances because the SEC is so tough.

Maybe Bama can hire her back. She was a great assistant there.

The whole Patrick Murphy/LSU thing was weird Alabama was willing to hire her so I thought we were getting a good one but she just never panned out. And her deal was being such a great pitching coach and we sucked at pitching.
We went 6-21 in the SEC last year and finished 12th out of 13 teams with THREE first team all-SEC players, the most in the conference.
That's a coaching issue. 8 years and a brand new stadium is enough.

She must not be recruiting all that well with a conference record of 69-127 over 8 seasons. Backwards to what? We're already the bottom of the barrel program. She wasn't getting the job done. An extension is laughable. Maybe Ole Miss should take a page out of MSU's book and fire a coach who does the same thing year in and year out (looking at you Bianco)

It is. I was thinking there must have been some kind of transgression, then I read this..........

During her tenure, Stuedeman has only a 69-127 mark in the Southeastern Conference.
Maybe she wanted a contract extension and State wasn't willing?

My statement on weird timing is it's two months after the season ended. Her record didn't change. Most coaches that are fired for losing are let go within a few days of the season ending.

From what I understand the timing stems from the mass transfer of softball players.
This is something that needed to happen. I didn't think Cohen would do it, but he did something right here.
Here's the thing about Vann, argurably, every year was no different from year 1 of her. A bottom sec team who is competive with regional level competition but can't win anymore than a game or 2 in a regional because they simply aren't that good.
Idk what the future of State is, but we discussed some candidates on the MSU Board that I'll probably bring up again.

This is a time when contract extensions are usually discussed so yes this makes sense as well.
My guess is that the conversation didn't turn out well.

Yep ANC. It was time. We might be just as bad with a new coach. But we can't be worse because we already were the worst team in the SEC
3 SEC teams: Arkansas, South Carolina, and Ole Miss that were worse than MSU when she took over have easily surpassed Mississippi State.

There were six transfers out. Most were bit players. Softball has a lot of transfers because you can transfer out of conference without sitting a year. The timing two months after the season ended suggest something else.

Or the fact that a State Softball player literally just transferred to Florida today.
Not ideal.
