Whoever said Caslen is not a fundraiser could not be more wrong. He will step in with more contacts in various fields where the big research money lies than any president in our history.
I said he has zero experience as a fund raiser. Where has he raised funds before? The closest job to this one that he's had before in the past, he wasn't legally allowed to do so....

Fund raising is all about who you know. Caslen most definitely has the social contacts to be a huge success at fund raising.
My biggest concern with Caslen is that it's McMaster pushing for him. I don't trust the slum Lord of a Governor we have.

I disagree. Fundraising is all about being able to build relationships with people you don’t know. It’s about selling yourself and the mission to people who may be apprehensive about donating. Tapping into your established contacts only goes so far.
I have no idea if Caslen is good at that or not, but I have to assume he’d automatically come in at a disadvantage given the negativity we’ve seen from faculty and (some) students. His work would be cut out for him with people he doesn’t know.
Has Darla Moore chimed in on Caslen? Do they know each other?
Any booster or potential donor who doesn’t like McMaster will likely not be too helpful to Caslen, that’s just the reality.

Good luck.

What? Fund raising is about relationships already built and those relationships reaching out to new ones. His connections are far reaching , which leads to raking in money now, not having to build a relationship to try and get money later.
For example look at our athletic department. When they have a fund raising campaign do they rely on building new relationships OR do they fall back on a list of names that they already have relationships with. Ask Rooster how that works.

Looks that way but that gives a week for the leftists liberals to cry foul.
That's the conservative military in me thinking that but on the flip side...
Why is McMaster pushing him on us when he doesn't even know the man and WHO is actually pulling McMasters strings? I've dealt with the slum landlord McMaster in the past and this guy doesn't give 2 cents about anyone but himmself so something is smelling very fishy.

Can I seriously ask what the frick is going on with our university? How do we expect to ever get our athletic department and football program in order when the search for our President is an absolute shite show? Our inbred cousins in Pickens County never seem to have these problems.

I don’t think McMaster is pushing for Caslen necessarily, he’s just pushing for a vote.
It is past time that the Board at least vote on something. The faculty and a small group of students have influenced this process far too much and people were made aware of outside influencers having disrupted the process. That’s something that just cannot be tolerated.
You have to draw a line somewhere. Force the vote and let the chips fall where they may.

Get Caslen in and stop the bitchassedness that came with the Yankee invasion of our campus.

Good.

A member of the University of South Carolina’s board of trustees has flipped his vote on whether to elect former U.S. Military Academy Superintendent Robert Caslen as USC’s next president.
Chuck Allen, a Hall of Fame football player who supported Caslen’s bid for presidency in April, has changed course, he said in a news release.
“General Caslan appeared to be a man of character and integrity. And although I was impressed with General Caslan’s presentation, recent developments prevent my continued support,” Allen said. “My reticence now stems from the multiple risks of harm the university is now confronted with. Alumni objections, accreditation risks, donor reaction, faculty opposition, a divided student body and athletic concerns form the basis of my judgment.”
Good.
