Haley replaced Darla Moore with Tommy Cofield. The Governor of SC by law is an "ex officio" member of the USC board of trustees. Due to their own work schedule as Governor, they are allowed to name a "designee" member who sits on the board for meetings in their stead.

The conspiracy theory has been that Haley removed one of USC's (if not THE) largest and longest donors in Darla Moore, and put Cofield in her place. This took place in 2011 I believe. The theory goes that Cofield served as sort of a "spy", reporting things back to Haley such as major project schedules for our IPF and FB Ops bldg. schedules, and Haley in turn reported that info to the Clemson BOT so they could get the jump on USC and have their own facility upgrades completed earlier, and get the advantage.

I dunno if any of that is true, and USC was pretty much diligent in reporting the phases of approvals for such projects publicly, so it wasn't exactly secret info to begin with. Cofield left the USC BOT last year...possibly replaced by McMaster's "designee", Dan Adams...

There has not been a situation such as this since Holderman was ousted and Art Smith was brought in until Palms was hired .... and even that was handled better than this because back then we at least had a Board of Trustees with balls.

You show me anywhere in our history where bringing in a new President has been this contentious and controversial and I'll find, somewhere in my personal library, the citations to prove you wrong.

I'll also find citations within our constitution to prove that McMasters did not operate outside of the parameters of his position.

I own a complete, definitive, first edition of the history of the state of SC which covers every aspect of the founding and progression of USC through 1919. And I also own the complete volume, broken down to a quantum level, of our state constitution and every iteration it's ever been through including every power the governor's office holds with respect to our BoTs.

You try to prove your case that my original claim was incorrect and I'll prove you wrong and provide citations, pictures of pages, to back it up.
