College World Series: Vandy whistler says he was told to stop whistling or be ejected.

OMAHA, Neb. — The Vandy whistler said he was warned three times by a tournament employee to stop whistling during Vanderbilt's College World Series game Sunday and that if he didn't quiet down, he could be ejected from the ballpark.

He plans to keep whistling in the Commodores' game against Mississippi State Tuesday (6 p.m., ESPN).

"They can't throw me out for whistling for our (Vanderbilt baseball players), like I always do," said Preacher Franklin, one of two Vanderbilt fans dubbed the Vandy whistler. "But (the tournament employee) said people around me were bothered by it and people watching the game on TV were calling and complaining.

"He said, 'Whistle like that one more time and you're going to be thrown out of here.'"

When asked for comment, an NCAA spokesman directed questions to the Omaha Metropolitan Entertainment & Convention Authority, which reserves the right to have additional rules on fan behavior beyond the NCAA.

One can hope.....

I've never watched a Vandy baseball game before. I think I might tune in today just see what the big fuss is all about.

It’s the right thing to do. Soon enough, you’d have scores of, or even hundreds of people whistling during the game. That would ruin it for a lot of folks at the game, or even watching on TV.

The greaseball that was causing trouble at the SECT didn't go to Omaha.

I haven't been to a Vandy game and entertained by the whistler but aint no way it can be as aggravating as the godforsaken Cowbells at State. SEC needs to tighten up on that crap.

Ejected, but not banned. So he can just come back to the next game

They ought to have every right to throw him out. People will actually change the channel because of it. That's not good for profits, and it negatively impacts college baseball fans.

Ejection isn't severe enough. Execution is more like it.

This is one of the biggest steps we have taken in sports history.

I'd say it's right there with allowing Jackie Robinson to play beside the whites.

Great day for all mankind. Someone having the balls to finally stand up and do what's right!!! Ban this fool

As much as I hate those whistlers.... it’s wrong to toss them. Hell, the entire State fan base brings cowbells and that is now the accepted norm. The fact is, there are thousands of people whistling at one point or another at a game.

Expose this guy and kick him out there will he five more to take his place. So on and so forth.

The dude needs his arse whooped and he is annoying, but the crowd literally claps after he does it. Mixed feelings - obviously annoying.

This is mob rule. Is that where you want this to go? Can we not have any kind of standard which takes in account other people or is it just anyone can do anything they want?
