congrats. You have a coach you like but he is in limbo. Do you think this will negatively impact recruiting? You know opposing coaches will use this.

I heard Finebaum make this point earlier today.
While it's a valid point, do you not think that same negative recruiting tactic will also be used against Bruce Pearl?
"Hey [recruit name here], you know Bruce Pearl already had a show cause. It's just a matter of time before he messes up again. Look at what just happened to Chuck Person. You want to take the chance that the NCAA digs up some more dirt on Auburn?"
Chuck Person just plead guilty last month. You don't think other coaches will use that in combination with Bruce Pearl's own past to negative recruit against Auburn?
So on and so forth for many other schools.

Exactly. How many recruits care that Calimari's teams at his two previous stops had to vacate final fours?

why would they be used against Pearl? He just signed a new contract and what happened at Auburn had absolutely nothing to do with him. In fact, it had nothing to do with recruiting in any way, shape, or form. What went on is not against NCAA rules in any way either.

For trying to get the best players to leave early. There is a big difference in that and giving players illegal benefits to attend a certain school.

So far it’s not working. Auburn’s class is rated 18th in the nation.

Dude you went and found all this info? Two weeks after your team was in the Final Four? Fun life you got there bro.

While I've seen nothing implicating Pearl or recruiting, this is incorrect.
That's why we had two players suspended last year.

You really don’t have a clue what this trial is about do you. Dawkins was paying players/coaches/family members to convince players to sign with his agency. That is why he is currently on trial for bribery.

The fact they keep actively trying to make parallels between Wade's situation and Pearl is getting laughable. Either they're more stupid than I gave them credit for, or they're willfully in denial at this point. Probably a combination of the two.

Do you not understand how negative recruiting works?
It's anything goes, baw.
It's not a damm courtroom.
It's recruiting.
Please tell me you don't work in sales.

Didn't say it was stopping Pearl at all.
Basically saying negative recruiting happens everywhere all the time.
Whether it works or not is another matter. Won't stop coaches from telling a kid whatever they have to in order to sell him on their school and dissuade him from everywhere else.
That's just Sales 101. Bruce is a strong arse salesman.

Yes. We were discussing how much school's would negatively recruit LSU over this. It had nothing to do with the trial. One of yours brought Pearl into the discussion. I was pointing out Pearl was not implicated in any way for his asst. trying to get players to leave early for money.

Yep you just confirmed it. They aren’t getting players to leave early. Dawkins wanted the players to sign with him when they left.
