BREAKING: Javonte Smart has declared for the NBA draft via his Instagram.

#LSU

As of right now, here is the point production remaining for LSU:

Marlon Taylor, 6.7 ppg
Darius Days, 5.3 ppg
Marshall Graves, 2.5 ppg
Will Reese, 0.4 ppg

The top 6 scorers have all declared for the NBA draft or are seniors:
Tremont Waters, 15.3 ppg
Naz Reid, 13.6 ppg
Skylar Mays, 13.4 ppg
Javonte Smart, 11.1 ppg
Kavell Bigby-Williams, 7.9 ppg
Emmitt Williams, 7.0 ppg
Daryl Edwards, 4.4 ppg

That's a total of 72.7 ppg of the 80.4 ppg LSU scored this season. Or 90% of the point production.

But it's quite possible a few of them are just testing the draft waters. Naz Reid is the only one who stopped attending class. Mays is a academic rock star. But we just don't know and won't know for sure for a while because players have until May 29 to pull out:

Players can hire an agent -- NEW NCAA RULE -- but terminate that agent relationship prior to May 29 and still be eligible to play in college. This is a good rule, and one that a long line of college players will lean on in the coming weeks.

Also, all these players may know a lot more than we do about what Wade did or didn't do.

NEWS: Darius Days is the sixth #LSU player to announce his intentions regarding next season, but his declaration strayed from the pack. He's staying:

He'll be taking a pay cut to go play overseas or in the G League.

Tigah's losing the whole squad.

On the surface, things are looking dicey in terms of subliminal messaging with all these guys declaring

Sending a message to the administration

But really, you can go through the whole draft process now and return to school, which I would still expect Mays and Smart back if wade is back. Even hire an agent, go through draft, if undrafted, return to school even.

They're losing everybody assistant coaches and players, with the whole program in limbo. They can't recruit right now. They simply have to shite or get off the can. If Wade won't meet with the NCAA, then they need to fire him with cause and hire a replacement. The sooner the better.

So LSU is essentially losing their top 5 players from this past year's team?

Smart
Reid
Waters
Bigby-Williams
Mays

That they were. They had a hell of a team this past year, but it has to suck being an LSU fan knowing that you're losing almost everybody without recruits coming in that are comparable

What are you upset about?

This breaking news immediately garnered a sticky on the Tiger Rant.

Only a matter of time before a thread was started here.

Doubtful.

Smart isn't on any mock drafts as a reasonable prospect. He's rated below Aric Holman on several draft sites.

The kid is just getting his evaluation, which is the right thing to do, imo :lo

Of all the guys in this situation you have to think Smart would be the most anxious to leave if he gets a somewhat decent grade.

Stick around and miss a year of getting paid to perhaps get suspended by LSU or the NCAA? No thanks.

Agreed George. I would be shocked if he returned to school with the chance of being ruled ineligible to play. Better to play somewhere than possibly nowhere.

Yeah, I forgot he was the one suspended. He needs to just go get paid wherever he can. Hopefully, the NBA
