It's as if fans of SEC teams don't understand how scheduling works.
When expansion occurred uga was moved to a home/home rotation to allow for the expansion changes...the SEC power brokers wanted to make sure Mizzou got bama year 1. Rightfully so we needed Mizzou to make the break from the Big 12 clean and Mizzou deserved the bama home game as a short term incentive. Neither uga nor Auburn had much say in that change...they both accepted it because like bama and UTk they had lobbied to keep the permanent cross divisional opponent successfully when every other member school would have voted to end those games and allow the East to play the West schools on a more regular basis.
Since that decision TDSOR has created a unique situation on Auburn's schedule where we play 2 of the top 4/5 programs in the SEC with the potential of playing one of those a 2nd time a week later each November. The kicker in even years those first 2 games are road games. It's bad for our home season ticket sales...the November ticket slate is laughable in those seasons. No other school has anything like that as an issue.
If you view it simplistically it may be shocking uga would entertain this option, but neither school is afraid to play the other school. Fans trolling on this subject is laughable. I suspect in the big scheme of things uga would rather not play Auburn in November either, the potential to turn around and play that game again as a title game would be something anyone would avoid if they could make it happen.
The SEC East November schedule is pretty bad also and moving TDSOR is the best way to solve that issue. Think of the TV benefit of bama/LSU and bama/Auburn the last 10 years...name a single November east game that has created that type of ROI for the networks.
In the end this decision will be an SEC decision driven by TV dollars and uga/Auburn will only offer input.

I’d be willing to bet UGA gets back to back home games as part of this deal as well.

I'd never say never, but I don't believe it is even an option. To do it would require uga to get 5 home games one season and the rest of the SEC would block that by not voting for it. Auburn could potentially live with 3 home games that season, but the decision wouldn't pass the 3/4 vote test due to the east teams opposition.

I think we all (or most) understand why the home/home, away/away at the end of the season for au in regards to uga/bama has happened. What doesn't make sense is using that as a reason to move this game up 2 months. It accomplishes nothing other than helping auburn. UGA doesn't benefit in any way.

It's not about being "afraid", nobody is asking to drop the series. AU doesn't like they end the season with their 2 hardest games in the final 3 weeks, so they are doing anything they can to make things easier on themselves. And somehow, inexplicably, our AD doesn't seem to mind helping them out.

That's simply not true, AU is the one spearheading this thing not the SEC. If the SEC was so hellbent on TV dollars they would eliminate the 2-3 weekends a year where eveyr teams plays an OOC scrub and we have practically unwatchable TV all day and night. AU has already scheduled UMASS in 2020 on the mid-november weekend we woudl normally play. Do you think the SEC was behidn that? Now UGA is going to have to play AU the week after UF next year, all because AU wants to make things easier on themselves.

McGarity's arse better be gone if he agrees to this without getting anything back in return.
He's the biggest pussy in that group of AD's.

All cross division games should be played in September or October. This keeps us from playing UGA, Bama, UGA which happened last year in a 4 week span....

that makes BY FAR the most sense, and I realize it can't happen until 2025 at the earliest when the new schddulesl are made but why not just do that then? Moving the game up 2 months accomplishes zero for UGa.

It would be great if it moved to the week after the auburn LSU game.

I think most Auburn fans want this to happen as well, but I just don't think it can happen until the rotation ends.
Currently, doesn't UGA end up playing GT and AU away in the same seasons or am I wrong there?

One out of three Auburn requests were granted. They also wanted to move to the East to escape Bama, and play UGA at Auburn every year. Now that they have their way with the first, it’ll encourage them to keep up the campaign for the latter two. Thanks, McGarity.

It would help the SEC...it's about TV dollars. The ROI is greater in November than September/October and the East hasn't provided much ROI late. uga playing UTk later would benefit the conference more than playing Auburn. The numbers do not lie.

uga's AD is seeing the forest and not being distracted by the trees.

AU doesn't have the kind of power you are insinuating. That UMASS game was scheduled knowing this was coming. There is more money to be made from games that directly impact the divisional race in November than in September/October. uga playing that type of game is good for the conference and it fixes the home/home issue created by the 2012 expansion.

Yea neither of these are a thing.

Sounds like this is all still in the negotiation phase so there has to be some benefit to UGA. Getting the extra home game back would be the only reason (at least from my view) and it also resets the home/home issue with Bama.

Playing in a game in November to decided the East like bama/LSU/Auburn have had over the last decade is the goal uga is shooting for in this scenario. The viewing numbers are hard data that can't be ignored. The SEC wants a 2nd option that reflects the West model. uga is comfortable positioning itself in that role.

It would also allow them to stagger their november home schedule in general so GT and AU aren't both away in the same season both in november.

but we DGAS about that. That's not the issue for us as it us for yall having UGA/bama to end the season. We drive an hour down the road to play in a stadium half full of our fans against a team we typically whoop up on. Playing them on the raod the same season we play AU on the road is a non-issue.

Playing tech and Auburn both on the road isn’t a competitive issue if that’s what your implying. Maybe it’s be nice for fans to have one game a year st home but it doesn’t affect play on the field the way it might for Auburn with Bama and UGA

Auburn has been at a huge disadvantage having your two biggest rivalries at the end of the season two weeks apart. It has been compounded in recent year with the state of the Eastern Division. Auburn had to play the gauntlet of playing the teams from the West and UGA had to prepare for maybe UF.

Why would a Conference run by a bunch of Bammers allow this to happen since it only hurts Bammer?
