Danielson: Nobody talks about Bama's CBs but it's the best CB tandem Saban's had at Bama

Gary Danielson: A kind of a hidden little part of this football team are the corners. Saivion Smith is a monster over there. He looks like a strong safety when you see him up close. Same with Patrick Surtain as a true freshman. These guys are both over 200 pounds and run like the wind. Everybody gets beat. I get that. Nobody's perfect at that position. But this might be their best set of corners they've had at Alabama.

Is Gary ever going to get his mouth off of Bama’s dick? He sure likes sucking it.

Diggs was playing better than both before he got hurt. Some sites still have him mocked in the first even after the injury. Pat Surtain is just a freak though.

But.... I thought that L8U was DBU??

We were pretty damn strong at CB in 2016 before Eddie Jackson got hurt, with Minkah and Marlon out there. 2011 as well with Dre, Menzie, and Milliner.
But I agree with his point that the DB in general were a huge question mark coming into this season and have been so much better than we could've hoped, especially accounting for the Diggs injury. Safeties and corners both have really played well for the most part.

What would a guy that QBed in the NFL for 13 years know about DBs?

We replaced our entire 6 man secondary from last season, and they may be just as good as last year. That's insane. #14 and #15 have been lights out at the safety spots. Diggs was our best corner before he got hurt, but even with him out Surtain, Savion and Shy Carter have been very solid at the corner spots. Shy is really coming on. Savion makes me nervous at times, but he's holding his own. This defense is coming on at the right time. We'll see what they've got against an excellent UGA offense.

It's a very good secondary no doubt about it but it isn't in the top 5 secondarys he has had at Bama IMO and not as good as a couple he had at LSU. Some of his units where truly suffocating in every facet of the game.

He is right about half of that.
Surtain should be a freshman all-American. No one throws to his side because no one is open on his side.
Smith is getting better but Diggs was playing good before he got hurt.

Eh, Savion is good but he's still figuring things out. He's an athletic freak, though. Sucks that Diggs got hurt.
Surtain is a NFL CB playing in college.
