Games holding up the SEC from going to a 9 team yearly schedule.

And thus, allowing everyone in the SEC to actually play each other in the SEC on a yearly basis:
Georgia/GA Tech
Florida/FSU
South Carolina/CU
Kentucky/UL
All are basically meaninglessness games, but it is insisted upon that they add these meaningless games each year.
As a result, you get the whole..."but WE have to play a big team from another conference" argument.
No you dont.
This is why we can't get along as far as schedules go in the SEC.
Maybe scrap these games or scrap one of your cupcakes and add them instead.
Be fair to the rest of the teams in your actual Conference.

You want to play the teams...but you don't want it to hurt you when it really matters..."your" yearly schedule.
Awesome.
Awesome.

I wouldn't mind if we went to 9 AND everyone kept scheduling P5 OOC. 9 SEC games + 1 P5 OOC + 1 G5 + 1 FCS. I ain't skeered. This is the SEC, we will be fine

Just give up one of the Cupcakes.
Why make the rest of the SEC try to fit these games in?
I like those games, and appreciate the history involved, but it completely handcuffs your actual Conference.

The state legislature threatened to pass a law where we had to play them when we threatened to drop them in basketball.

Why? I don’t really care if you want to go to 9 games. I like playing FSU every year and I like being able to play Miami every three or four, without having to worry about scheduling ourselves out of the playoff if we ever get good again. So no screw you.

You know what? Your AD should try that.
Maybe you should send a letter.

I'm young and I'm sure it means a ton to Georgia fans..
But I don't understand the UGA GT game. GT is a complete joke and shows zero want to improve moving forward. It's such a weird game to care about from where I'm sitting.

Scrap the mandatory Auburn games versus Miss St, Ole Miss, Arkie, and A&M. Are those rivals?
Hell no.
There are other ways to see the East more often.

So you think no SEC teams should play any other major OOC teams all season?

All of the above games in the OP should be moved to the beginning of the season.
Then we can more easily move to 9 game schedule for the conference.
Plus, it keeps the East from having such lopsided games played when teams like UGA are done with the SEC in the second week of November, meanwhile Tennessee amd others still has at least 2 conference games left.

Or drop the permanent cross rival games... which seems to be totally driven by the Alabama-Tennessee game which hasn’t been relevant for 20 years...Or if that game means so much realign the Conference which with modern travel is no problem....

This is false for so many reasons.
1) we aleady have a 9th game and it is the best in the ncaa (CCG). It is truly the only 9th game that matters.
2) a 9th conference game eliminates 7 games per year from TV and home attendance revenues. You are flat out stupid to think the conference walks away from this. It isn't worth the trade off to have Auburn play Vandy, Tennessee, and Mizzou more often.

South Carolina might have to change their state law to be able to go to 9.

I really don't care if we play Tech. They could easily be replaced with a rotating OOC P5 opponent. It's also not a fun rivalry anymore, for me at least.
We have everything in the world to lose, yet nothing at all to gain when we play them.
FWIW: I'm also only 23, so the older UGA contingent might disagree with me.

You know that the SEC manages the schedule. UGA played South Carolina, Auburn, Kentucky, and GT in November 2017 (just last season).
There is no need to move rivalry games to keep November interesting.
But I also don't see what the big deal about a cupcake in November is. If we schedule 2 cupcakes and put 1 in November, who gives a damn?

There's a lot of money in kickoff games. With the in-state out of conference games they already have a P5 OOC games. If they want the money from kickoff games they have to schedule 2 P5 OOG.

Not really. UGA and auburn are every bit as defiant on keeping their game...if not more.
U can sit around and blame Bama and ut but u know good and damn well that's not the ONLY cross division game the sec wants to keep.
