What with Quinnen Williams becoming one of the top players at Alabama & possibly a 1st round NFL draft pick this year, I was curious about which player that decommitted from Auburn and committed to Bama that Auburn fans hated the most.

1. Quinnen Williams, DT, Birmngham (Ala.) Wenonah
2018 CFP National Championship
Current player on Bama's 2018 team. After redshirting his first year at Alabama in 2016, Williams played in all 14 games, recording 20 tackles and two sacks in 2017. He has realy blown up in 2018, considered one of the best defensive players, up for many awards, even mentioned as a heisman finalist. Mentioned as a possible 1st round NFL draft pick & possibly top 5.
((Grew up an Auburn fan. Williams committed to Auburn in early 2015 before backing off that decision in early June of that year & then committing to Alabama a few weeks later. He apparently even still uses Auburn-related passwords for his email and social media accounts according to his father. The four-star defensive tackle showed up to his commitment ceremony wearing in Alabama shirt in what was one of the least dramatic commitment ceremonies in recent memory.))

2. Reuben Foster, LB, Auburn (Ala.) Auburn High School
NFL Draft: 2017 / Round: 1 / Pick: 31
Unanimous All-American (2016)
CFP national champion (2015)
Butkus Award (2016)
SEC champion (2014, 2015, 2016)
First-team All-SEC (2016)
(( In July 2011, Foster committed to Alabama. After transferring to Auburn High School prior to his senior year, Foster de-committed from Alabam & switched to Auburn. "At the end of the day, I feel like Auburn University is the place for me and my family. I am 100 percent confident with my final decision", said Foster. He went so far to have the Auburn University emblem tattooed on his right arm. On NSD Foster re-committed to Alabama.))

3. Rashaan Evans, LB, Auburn (Ala.) Auburn High School
NFL Draft: 2018 / Round: 1 / Pick: 22
2× CFP national champion (2015, 2017)
All-SEC selection (2017)
((Rashaan's father was a star running back at Auburn, and his mother received four degrees from Auburn, including her doctorate. His older sister was a cheerleader at Auburn. In his famous signing day, Auburn made a mistake and put his commitment for Auburn on their website, because they were so sure of him committing to them. He committed to Alabama instead.))

4. Cyrus Kouandjio, OT, Hyattsville (MD.) Dematha Catholic
NFL Draft: 2014 / Round: 2 / Pick: 44
Consensus All-American (2013)
First-team All-SEC (2013)
BCS National Champion (2012, 2013)
SEC Champion (2012)
((On NSD, Cyrus announced on ESPNU that he would attend Auburn. Later that day, it was reported that he had second thoughts and was still undecided. 3 days later, his brother Arie announced on his Twitter that Cyrus would attend Bama.))

5. T.J. Yeldon, RB, Daphne (Ala.)
NFL Draft: 2015 / Round: 2 / Pick: 36
Second-team All-SEC (2014)
First-team All-SEC (2013)
BCS national champion (2012)
2× SEC champion (2012, 2014)
won the Alabama Mr. Football Award over Hueytown's Jameis Winston
((In June 2011, Yeldon verbally committed to Auburn.[13] However, after the end of his senior season, he switched to Auburn's in-state rival Alabama, citing uncertainty over the Tigers' offensive coordinator position following Gus Malzahn's move to Arkansas State.))

Others decommiting from Auburn & committing to Bama....
Josh Chapman, DT, Hoover (Ala.)
Joshua Casher, C, Mobile (Ala.)
Brent Calloway, LB, Russellville (Ala.)
Dee Liner, DT, Muscle Shoals (Ala.)

Rashaan Evans and it isn’t close for me. It’s the way he did it - everyone else I understand but Evans is just a horrible human being.

How exactly did he do it? And didn't Auburn fans attempt to chase his family out of town after their son committed to the Tide?

I realize you're not going to like him and while I don't remember exactly how he made the switch, I'm sure it was a dick move and I don't blame you for shitting on him for it.

BUT, isn't he a pretty good guy? I remember thinking he was mature beyond his years at Alabama and a quiet yet fantastic leader.

Here's the real question, would any of these players have ended up better having gone to Auburn rather than Alabama?

Would they've gotten equivalent training, development, and coaching to get them into the pros?

Didn't Liner play for Auburn? Or was that a different Dee?

His dad was the one who everyone hated if I recall. And rightfully so, I think, as they (his parents) didn't handle it well at all.

I don't blame 18 year olds for being fickle

I’m not sure. Honestly, I stopped keeping up with him after he went to Bama. But he made the Auburn coaches and Bama coaches do a dance off at a birthday party then told the AU coaching staff he would be sigining with Auburn knowing full well he would be signing with Bama which is why the AU Athletix website listed him as a commit. Apparently a lot of Auburn fans think his dad orchestrated everything from the beginning because he was sour grapes and a backup to Bo Jackson. They basically tried to make Auburn look as foolish as possible. So for that, I say frick RE. I don’t have any ill feelings toward any any other but him. We would have kept Ruben Foster if our entire coaching staff wasn’t fired so it is understandable for him. It is pretty much understandable for everyone else as well.

If I remember correctly, he told told all the coaches he was committing and invited a bunch of other Auburn commits to Auburn HS for his commitment and then put on the Bama hat.

No, he signed with Bama in 2013 & transferred to Arkansas State in 2015.

quote:

Liner came to Alabama in 2013 as the No. 4 defensive tackle in the nation, according to 247Sports' composite of recruiting rankings. But with A'Shawn Robinson, Jonathan Allen, D.J. Pettway and Jarran Reed returning, there isn't much room in the crowded Alabama defensive line.

I don't hate anyone, but his dad was a prick. Evans just did what his dad wanted him to do as far as how it was handled.

If I am a top rated LB then you would be dumb not to lean towards Bama in most cases.
