that would make for an interesting Alabama vs Auburn game the next couple of years.

What position would he play at Auburn?

What if he transfers in August an Tua gets hurt ?

We already have some quarterbacks on campus that can’t pass worth a shite.

DIdnt Auburn already try that Franklin guy? Hurts is basically the same player, not quite as fast though.

He's already had a few years of college coaching so Gus might not frick him up.

I think he ends up at UF or Arizona if he transfers.

Not even fricking close. Hurts is 10x the QB Franklin was. Has everyone forgotten he was the SEC offensive player of the year? He just needs the right system and coaching.

Texas or Texas A&M could also be possibilities.

I just think he might would work pretty good in the type offense Malzahn likes to run.

CAREER STATS
SEASON CMP ATT YDS CMP% YPA LNG TD INT SACK RAT RAW QBR ADJ QBR
2017 154 254 2081 60.6 8.19 78 17 1 24 150.7 73.1 83.4
2016 240 382 2780 62.8 7.28 71 23 9 19 139.1 56.7 68.
Don't you love how people distort facts when it doesn't fit their agenda. Hurts has thrown 40 TD pass and only 10 INTs with a 60%+ completions rate and almost 5000 yards. Now the Bama fans want to run him off.

He's a heck of a lot better than Franklin. More like the qb Auburn had in 2013 whose name escapes me, but that guy was a little better imo.

Gus wouldn't take him honestly. Auburn doesn't quite have the talent to surround him with so he wouldn't be nearly as successful there. Hurts is much, much worse at being a quarterback than most people realize. He wouldn't even make it at Georgia Tech because he can't make simple read option plays at Bama with only one read involved. We wanted to utilize rpo's but he always just took off or ran around like he had ants in his pants. Truth is that he is just a really good athlete that is a quarterback because he is a coaches son.
Best of luck to the young man when he transfers this fall but I would be willing to bet that he won't Garner the attention of as many big time programs as most of you think or expect. Last year he was great at throwing to Ridley only if he was wide arse open and he can run on defenses that are less than stellar. He can hand the ball off with the best of them and won't throw many picks but that's because he rarely throws the ball at all on dropbacks.
I will be a fan of his wherever he ends up and I appreciate his hard work and effort the last two years. A great representative and teammate but not a good quarterback. Lane Kiffin was a magician with him in 2016 and imo he should go play for Kiffin again. Not many coaches are going to be able to hide how bad he is.

40 TDS vs 10 INTS for 5000 yards.

Dude, he didn't have to run for his life last year. It looked that way because he couldn't stay in the pocket and make reads. The staff seriously simplified the offense to just one read. Basically, look for Ridley and if he is open throw it, if he isn't then take off.
Those are facts. Take a look at the game stats from every big game he played in and it was always around 80-100 yards in the air and 40 or so on the ground. Lane Kiffin is just a fricking wizard that knew how to get the most from him. He rarely threw picks because he always threw short or just took off.
You could have been quarterback of our 2016 team and probably won 10 games. The defense alone scored enough to have a winning record without even having an offense.

quote:You've got it backwards. He made the OL look bad because if his first read was not open, he would not move up in the pocket, had great trouble making the 2nd read, he would not make a decision and throw the ball, he would then wander off to the right, sometimes all of the way out of bounds.
Again, watch the games, Hurts had to run for his life with Bama's OL. His running allowed the team to cover up that weakness.
Tua did not have the same problems when he played. He was rarely sacked. The OL was not great at pass-pro but they were nothing like appearances. Again, Tua was almost never sacked. Jalen simply does not have the passing skills (pocket presence, ability to read quickly and make a decision, anticipate the receiver's path, etc.) to play in a pro-set offense. He does not make good decisions on RPOs, either for handing off or throwing being inclined to keep the ball most times. Bama's receivers and running backs became very frustrated last year. That's one reason the O began to lose hope the 2nd half of the season. When Tua came in the NC game, the entire team was infused with hope and energy. They have great respect for Jalen personally and as a leader, but knew he was not able to execute the passing game.
He may be coached to execute some type of option O. He is big and strong with good top end speed. He is a great leader and teammate. He has a strong arm with decent accuracy. There is something to work with.

There was a #2 WR that stepped up. Kiffin's Offense consisted of the bubble screens or the deep ball. Last year the intermediate routes were not open unless it was Ridley, Hurts had to hold the ball because their wasn't anyone open early. Most QBs would have thrown the ball away or taken the sack. Hurts at least got something positive out of it. Run him off, TCU will love to have him.

He moved up to avoid the piss poor OL protections. He would then take off and run the ball for positive yardage. Most QBs would have been sacked 9 out of 10 times. Why do you think Saban stuck with him so long ? Loyality ?
