Yes Greg Schiano is a better coach on paper, but he is a retread with a known ceiling

His ceiling is unknown. He made fricking Rutgers relevant for the first time since 1869. Sure, it didn't work out in the NFL but Tennessee fans saying he's a mediocre coach because he didn't win a natty at Rutgers are complete morons.

The real reason they got all pissy about it is because those idiots actually thought they had a shot to get Gruden.

The real reason is because with that Schiano hire the AD demonstrated that they were completely tone deaf and nothing was going to improve moving forward

Even if Schiano wasn't involved with the Penn State Scandal, he is associated with it. We don't need that association. And dont act like every other fanbase wouldn't have jumped on the opportunity to talk shite

But lets just face it, everyone in the SEC wanted us to hire Schiano...because he blows

Did he win his conference? Did he have any other coaching offers from P5 schools? Why didn't everyone want him if he was so good, especially considering how many jobs were open?

Again, he was at Rutgers. That's like trashing Mark Mangino becsuse he didn't win the Big 12 at Kansas.

Only Schiano and his agent know this answer.

A lot of UGA fans worried that UT and UF may get their act together.

Actually it is funny they are obsessed with a team coming off their worst season in program history....This coming from a UGA program who had done less with more than any program in college football for 35 plus years. They had some success last season and don't know how to handle it and all of a sudden think they are Gods gift to college football. They are by far the worst fan base in the SEC. They should be worrying about that murders row of a OOC schedule they have this season.

If those two knuckleheads could find a way to work together it could be a good thing and get UT back on track. We all know Fulmer’s M.O. and Pruitt is a volatile guy. This story about him showing up at Richt’s house wanting to fight is incredible.

Jeremy has a good football mind but he's in a bad situation. Fulmer was the type guy that would DO ANYTHING to win and not in a good way. He orchestrated a palace coup against John Majors, his mentor, to get him out. He cut a deal with the NCAA on the Albert Means case when they had bid on him as well, to save his arse and hang Alabama (along with some assistance from SEC Commish Roy Kramer).

The biggest issue is gonna be with Fulmer putting himself in a Jerry Jones situation. He's very involved in the inner workings of the program and that can never happen. I once asked a Georgia fan what was the problem when Ray Goff was coaching. He said Ray isn't the problem, It's Dooley. The Head Coach has to have autonomy with the program. he has to have the final say. He has to set the tone and he has to lay out the direction of the program without interference from anybody. You can't have Fulmer calling recruits that Jeremy may not want or have him barging into jeremy's office giving him a list of plays he'd like to see or what he thinks the gameplan should be. Fulmer is a strong personality but the problem is Jeremy does too.

Jeremy made a mistake. This will be a short time deal. Jeremy will tell fulmer to get fricked and that won't go over well with the "Knoxville Mafia" as we called them during Phil's days.

This deserved to be quoted and reshown ... because this is probably going to happen eventually.

Pruitt is a program cancer. Literally every where hes been going back to Hoover HS he's caused issues and created tension on the staff and with his boss

A vol media member told me the day Jeremy was hired “this will end with him getting fired and Phil taking over as coach”

I have believed that from the beginning when it was announced that Fulmer was returning as the AD.

Does anyone think it's possible that phil could try to manipulate his way back into the head coach position (again)? I mean, Pruitt is probably the perfect rube for his master plan.
first thing i thought when he became AD.

I keep seeing things similar to this. What has Dan Mullen won exactly? Any NY6 bowl wins (I see they went to the orange bowl in '14 and lost)? Pre-playoff major bowls under his belt?

Literally the only thing the dude has won is 2 games against an LSU that everyone on this board unanimously agrees is down.

agreed. and he JUST went 4-7 the year before. He is a "proven winner" in the way that Houston Nutt is a "proven winner".

I'm just here to eat popcorn, watch the show, and discuss the inevitable....Could care less about UT. I hope they do get better, actually....we need our SOS improved. Middle Tennessee could have beaten them last year, and UMASS came within a play or two of doing just that.

Dude, Pruit is a soy bean farmer just like Ed O is a shrimp boat captain

It took Ed being epically horrific in his first tenure as the main boss in order to him to be mediocre now

Tenn is about to feel the wrath of being the first school to make a complete buffoon its head coach
