Trolling Arkansas, State, & Ole Miss?
Tom Herman Calls for Texas and Texas A&M to Resume Their Football Series - Sports Illustrated

quote:
Reached Tuesday by phone, Texas A&M athletic director Scott Woodward said the calls for the game aren’t anything new ... both schools are scheduled out for almost a decade. In an interview this spring, Woodward explained that at the moment, Texas A&M’s priorities are trying to figure out how to beat its new(ish) rivals in the SEC West. “I admire that [Texas is] a great [Association of American Universities] institution in my state,” Woodward said. “They have a great role, but they do what they do what they do. From an athletic standpoint, all my focus is east.
Tom Herman Calls for Texas and Texas A&M to Resume Their Football Series - Sports Illustrated

quote:
When the split took place, parties on each side blamed the other for the rivalry’s end. The truth is that both schools acted in their own best interests, and the rivalry was a casualty.
quote:
“The University of Texas does not play a rival at home, ever,” Herman said. “Our only now-true historic rival is Oklahoma. We play them in Dallas at the state fair. Oklahoma, they play Oklahoma State home-and-home every year. Iowa plays Iowa State home-and-home every year.”

Nice of Herman to say he wants the game to come back when he damn well knows it's impossible w/the way A&M and Texas have their schedules set up for the next 10 years.
Aside from the fact that both already have OOC P5 opponents set up, both have to juggle losing a home game every other year due to the neutral site games in DFW w/ Texas/OU at the Cotton Bowl and A&M/Arky at JerryWorld. Either A&M or Texas (and maybe even both) would have to completely redo their deals w/all the P5 schools they have contracts with to make the home schedules work and that just ain't happening.

We are 12-6 against them. He's not wrong.

Woodward just has a good head on his shoulders for a guy who overcame a lot of hardships in his life.

He’s not stupid.
The horns have a lousy home schedule; they know it.
At this point in time, Texas A&M brings more to the table for UTex than the horns bring to the Ags.
That could certainly change over time, but it’s just the way things are right now.

Absolutely.
I appreciated this comment:

Yeah but you bet those arrogant assholes aren't happy with Tom outright admitting their disadvantage.
Some Longhorns are still living under the 2011 delusion that not playing us "hurts us," and Tom admitting we can actually help them won't play well with those boosters.

1-3 vs State since Manziel.

If you have to take away a player or season to make an argument then you probably should just not post. It's not a good look. Sorry, you are an afterthought to our AD.

I didn't realize we were considered rivals. My shorthorn friends claim we are no different to them than tech, tcu or baylor, so they should stick to them instead.

Yeah that is quite the cut-down for fans of programs like Tech that feel like they were building a rivalry over Thanksgiving games with Texas.

Stanley...
Not that it matters, but I will gain so much respect for the Aggies if they tell Herman and Texas to frick off.

They would need it to be a home and home to be a thanksgiving rivalry, and not just playing every other year in Austin. They are conference rivals, and a good fit for each other. Tech is what lsu would be if they never won more than 7 games, and texas is Alabama during the shula years. They are perfect for each other

Or we could drop one of the games against high school teams.

Um no. You are 30-41-3 against Arkansas alone. I don't know about the others. Believe it or not, football was played before 2012

As a member of the SEC, A&M is 6-0 vs. piggy.

Believe it or not, outside of national titles won most people don't give a shite about football prior to the last five years.

That's kind of the message I got from Woodward's response. It was a subtle way of saying "frick off"

Thing about it was, it wasn't in their best interest. Texas has been shite ever since that game went away. Not to mention what it meant to millions of fans, who is who they play for anyway.
