My only thought is Cohen didn’t follow through on his promise.

He did by a technicality I guess. He never said the coach would have head coaching CWS experience. Only CWS experience. Nonetheless, it's underwhelming on it's surface imho.

Didn’t know Indiana even had a baseball team until this threads. Thanks Opie.

Just because the average fan doesn't recognize the name doesn't mean it's an average hire. This guy is a star in the making. Cut his teeth with McConnell at Louisville and was widely considered the best recruiter on staff. Has learned the ropes of head coaching at Indiana all the while improving every year. Recruited pretty damn good at Indiana. Plus gautrue is staying on. They will kill it on the recruiting trail. Solid hire that will pay off.

I mean, they at least made the tournament?

He could be a much more mature Cann.

Pretty meh hire. Not the best gameday coach, but a fantastic recruiter.

Happy with this.
Kendall Rogers: Clearly, John Cohen got himself an excellent recruiter, and with Jake, that’s a terrific recruiting staff. Lemonis recruited all those Omaha teams for #Louisville. Long-term, I really like that staff.
Aaron Fitt: I'm with @KendallRogers. I think the Lemonis/Gautreau duo will be a force to be reckoned with on the recruiting trail.

My only question is how long for Gautreau now. As soon as Tulane opens, we can kiss him goodbye probably.

Looks like State will be beating Mizzou in the future.

I like this hire. I think he’ll mesh well with JG.

What a coincidence. Indiana does not know that Tennessee had a baseball team.

You spelled Jim Schlossnagle wrong

Indiana went to Omaha in 2013, the last year we were there. However, it wasn't Lemonis that was the skipper.

Im gonna say miss st gonna shoot for the moon and get set down withba Calvi type...a vety good coach but the uninformed fanbase will shite on the hire
Much like many SC fans did on the Kingston hire.
If South Carolina couldnt pull these guys no way in hell MSU does. MSU a great program but isnt in a hotbed for recruiting have nowhere the history of South Carolina

Reddit is saying his strength is recruiting. Average to below average on game day decisions and development. He inherited an Indiana program that was really good, and hasn't got out of the regionals.

Super personable, and took Indiana to the tournament 3 out of the 4 years he was there.
I think the combination of State’s fans and efforts to put $ into the baseball program plus Lemonis’ personality will be a solid combination.
Obviously not the home run hire that was originally expected, but all in all I think it was a solid hire.
