You don't think the officials sucked and there were multiple missed calls on both sides? Obviously the punt block thing was the biggest in terms of its result on the game - but these officials were very bad on both sides.
Not that it matters to me due to the result - but these officials were very bad.
It's not that the comment is inaccurate, it's that it's used to excuse it as some how *balanced*. Officials are going to miss calls... period. That's not even debatable. The party line here on the rant right now if anyone makes any remark that remotely insinuates that Alabama benefited from the poor officiating is to go to the "on both sides" argument.
If a guy steals 10 bucks from you and 100 bucks from me... did we both lose something? Sure... but one of us was impacted more, no?
As I said multiple times in this thread, and in others... we had our chances and made mistakes along the way that ended up costing the game - that's on the players and coaches... but it's not inaccurate to say that Alabama's not even in the position to take advantage of them without some pretty beneficial officiating.

UGA got away with two blatant targeting penalties and the personal foul facemask on Tua that is featured on the cover of SI. If called those penalties could easily have led to points. Plus in the case of targeting UGA defenders should have been ejected.

Do you have video evidence to support blatant helmet to helmet hits or are you butthurt that Trenton Thompson decleated your receiver legally?

I see you aren't arguing about the facemask. I'm still in ATL when I get back home I will post the two targeting non-calls. Although what is especially egregious is the Sanders targeting what reviewed to see if it was a pick.

Poor officiating affects ALL games. Look at the the missed calls in the Georgia v. Oklahoma game.
But y'all won that one. The winner of a game will never complain about officiating...only the loser.

would like to know as well.
And I would like to know why they are complaining about NH22 getting held on interfered with on a play that should have been blown dead for a false start on none other than NH22 or are the citing a different play?

If your helmet makes contact with a defenseless receiver it is targeting. That's the rule.

I'm not complaining - its just more evidence of poor officiating in general and with missed calls on both teams. The fact is that a false start was not called on that play, so the pretty blatant PI against both WRs (one was a holding i guess) were eligible for a call and was missed again displaying the overall poor officiating in the game.

you realize you're complaining about no calls on a play your team scored a TD to tie up the NC game late in the 4th QTR, right?

Aaron Murray says hi (glad he still can)
defenseless player

Murray was not defenseless. He was running towards the play after the pick. UGA benefitted from a dozen bad calls including the fake punt and a phony topped pass call that should have PI but led to a blocked field goal.
In the end-just like last Monday night- the best team won.

I was only talking about that play but good to see you complaining about the refs. Thought Bama fans didn't do that?

The Oklahoma game was an example of a game where at least the officials swallowed the flags for both teams... The officials at least were semi-consistent. They let the DBs for both teams play physically, there wasn't a penalty called on Oklahoma until there was a minute remaining in the fourth quarter, even though their OL held on nearly every play and their WRs were allowed to start blocking downfield before the ball was even thrown routinely. Not worth going back to show videos of this, because as I said... none of it changes anything.
ETA: Example of me calling it out after the win (and others discussing it in the thread) - LINK
But if you think the Alabama/UGA game and the Oklahoma/UGA game were somehow in the same ballpark of balanced officiating, I don't know how to help you. I will 100% admit that I will have a bias here, and I was watching in person, so did not have the luxury of running my own replay booth on the DVR... but fortunately enough, the internet does a pretty good job of covering it for me... and every time an Alabama says "but what about [insert play]", videos are notably absent, or it's on a subjective play where we could then grab 5-10 examples of the same style of play being allowed. We're not even primarily talking about subjective things like PI/holding where there is a "let them play" aspect to it... a false start is a false start... someone who didn't end up in the neutral zone prior to the snap is not offsides...
I've made my peace with the outcome of the game... I just find it amusing that many Alabama fans aren't willing to accept that they had some assistance... personally I'd fricking relish it... particularly after how the game went last year against Clemson. Just weird...

If Murray was defenseless then both of our WRs that were targeted were defenseless even more so.
Murray was running towards the play. Suppose he altered the path of the returner or one of his blocker. It would have changed the outcome of the play.

We might, if the whining wasn't so loud that it's shattering windows in Virginia.

Well... to be fair, 80% of the whining is coming from LSU posters, no?
I even created a whole thread where you guys can let me know where the melts are occurring.
Ultimately, whining doesn't change whether it happened or not... not sure why it would impact your willingness to admit it either.
Either way... great fricking game. Looking forward to many more.
