MSU fans: Are you sure Mullen is a lazy recruiter?

Are we still sticking with that narrative? Not a bad transition class in 3 weeks. Agreed?

How is the class looking?

Isn’t Florida in the 20s? That’s not that great. Congrats on EJ though.

Getting a QB is huge.
But no one should judge him on 3 weeks of recruiting (obviously ).

Class looks pretty good so far in a transition year.
15 recruits and ranked 14 on 247. That's the lowest number committed of the top 20 (Clemson has 15 too).
8 4*
7 3*
Lots of work to do still for sure. It's a good start.

He absolutely was lazy at State. Let his assistants handle it. The odds of him not caring at UF are a lot less than they were at MSU.

Grantham did pull in his biggest talent at state.

Every NFL player besides Dak and Gabe Jackson (a Croom recruit mainly) that State has currently is on defense.
ETA: And for clarity, I'm talking active roster. Not practice squad.

I think that is really good, esp given the timing of the hire.
I for one am excited to see what he can do with the type of talent Fl has.

After watching the way he recruited for 10 years, yes, I'm pretty sure he's a lazy recruiter. His reputation as a good QB coach and Dak has made that position better (see K. Thompson at State 4* and Jalen Mayden 4*).

Maybe Miss State is just not a place you recruit well at? Let's see how they do next year without Mullen.
I think he didn't go after as many high profile guys there, but no excuse for that at UF.
HE was confident enough that he went hard after the guy he wanted and didn't just keep Mac's guy. Was smart for Corral to go to an offense more his style, and smart for Mullen to believe that Jones, his type of guy was going to come.
UF still doesn't have all of our coaches. Hard to recruit without everyone. But he has bought in some pretty good guys so far. Gonzalez was incredible at UF and LSU recruiting. Warren is a very good recruiter, Seider is the best recruiter Mac had, and best overall position coach. Grantham seems to recruit well though haven't actually checked his history for some reason top recruit wise.
He could be bad at it. Time will tell. But this win was a big win for Florida, which hasn't really happened since Muschamp. So he seems to have the ball rolling decently.

We will recruit better under Moorhead on offense, no doubt. Yes, Mullen is known as a lazy recruiter, but his effort varied. Some years he put more effort than in others. Honestly, however, he was getting a bit green about the gills having to constantly recruit against a cheating machine like Ole Miss. They make the former USC and Miami look small time.

If I had the choice of hitting the recruiting trail or stay in Gainesville, I'd hit the trail too. May be a good move for him.

And if he had the chance to live in Starkville or Gainesville, he would probably choose Gainesville. Oh wait...............he already chose!

I've been to both and have no reason to give Starkville preferential treatment. Gainesville is worse. I liked the "Swamp", but everything else really sucked.

You gave him a $1.5M/yr pay raise (33%) and extended his contract from 3 years to 6.
On top of that, only 2 coaches in the SEC have a bigger buyout l $12M)

He chose to get paid a shite ton more. He didn’t choose to live in shitty Gainesville.

Really? where is he living Ocala, Jacksonville, White Castle, Middleburg, Stark? I think he chose to live in Gainesville.
Anyone who thinks Starkville is a better place to live than Gainesville needs to see a doctor.
