The latest twist in the wild Tennessee coaching search involves the Vols making a trip out to Los Angeles to meet with Washington State head coach Mike Leach, two sources told SI.

Word is the meeting with Leach and Tennessee AD John Currie lasted a few hours and went "very well," SI has learned. And I’m told there would be genuine interest in the Vols job from the Wazzu head man. However this whole deal is complicated by the dynamic swirling around within UT’s leadership. We’ve heard from multiple sources there is a lot of in-fighting, finger-pointing and back-stabbing taking place amongst Tennessee brass. As SI reported earlier this week, there is a growing faction at Tennessee pushing to get Currie removed. Former Vols head coach Phil Fulmer is said to be one of those battling with Currie and that could muck up the process to reel in Leach.

I would hate this if we lose Leach BUT if King Fulmer can get this retard Currie removed in the process, it may be the best thing long term imo

Can a UT fan answer this? Why in the frick is Fulmer allowed to have any say in a coaching search?

That is akin to allowing your ex-wife have a say in your new marriage...

Believe it or not, we have the same type behind the scenes dysfunction going on at Auburn. Old guard vs. New guard. This is the ONLY reason Gus is even contemplating going home. They FORCED him to give up play calling and TRIED to force an OC hire down his throat.

All of this is a direct result of the fallout from the Schiano ordeal.

Currie kept EVERYONE in the dark besides the Haslams until Sunday when he was on a plane to Ohio. All the boosters have revolted against the Haslams/Currie and I hope to god they can overthrow their tyranny.

Back in February when Currie was originally hired, it looked like Phil was going to be the AD and he had support from a very large majority of top level boosters. Jimmy Truckstop nixed that with a quickness and immediately put his puppet Currie in charge.

Just to give everyone a basic rundown of why we are here now

I've been trying to follow the UT storyline and, if possible, make sense of it.

Let's see if I can recap a little. One of your ex-QBs has inserted himself into the recruitment and vetting process, and an ex-coach is now trying to get the AD removed.

I see now why you call yourselves volunteers.

Shocking; Fulmer stabbing another ut employee in the back for his own personal gain. It's like he can't get a job without stealing someone else's at ut.

Fulmer is now in an official role as the advisor to the president of UT. He has major say in this and should've been the AD to start with but got railroaded by the Haslams.

I'm glad he's standing up to the Haslams

I guess every school goes through it at some point or another... Same thing at BAMA starting with Stallings' departure and through the period of wandering in the wilderness...

You are right though, the old guard at Auburn has not been put down and you have your own "Fulmer" hanging around in the athletic department...
