Auburn had given up 4.0+ YPC in 6 of their previous 7 games going into the Georgia game

4.00 vs Missouri
4.13 vs Mississippi State
2.77 vs Ole Miss
4.03 vs LSU
4.07 vs Arkansas
4.21 vs Texas A&M

Georgia put up 1.44 YPC. For comparison, Georgia Southern had 1.49 and Mercer had 2.86.

Incredible.

To be fair, Auburn was much more motivated AND strategically inclined to stop a vaunted UGA rushing attack than they were in any of those seven games.

Best performance I've seen from our defense considering what we were going up against.

I thought the game was a result of UGA's frosh QB finally playing like a freshman. But those are eye-opening numbers.

I'm going to get destroyed for saying this, but I believe we got Auburn's absolute best shot on Saturday and we folded like a cheap table. I think a rematch would be much closer. I don't know if we could narrow the gap all the way and get a W, but I refuse to believe our run game was that bad.

I mean, sure, but Auburn had been a good but not great rush defense for basically 2 months and Georgia just crumpled in the run game against them.

If Auburn could have done that all year and didn't for some reason then somebody needs firing.

GA also never broke a long run to up the YPC averages.

It was the best performance of the year because we really keyed in on it. Not like either of our 2 losses are because of troubles stopping the run (LSU did have one 70 yd sweep that hurt us but that's it). We were gonna make Fromm beat us.

I wonder how much garbage time has inflated some of those rushing numbers. AU never rotated in the 2s on defense against UGA

Also the truth is UGA is the ultimate one trick pony offense. Granted that one trick has been REALLY freaking good but AU basically lined up & said "beat me throwing" & had numbers all night in run game. UGA's WRs couldn't make enough plays to back us up & a beatdown ensued. This was a perfect matchup for AU. A run first team with an immobile QB & average WRs

The difference in 2 weeks will be Hurts as a runner & fact he's got some elite talent at WR

Crowd noise fricked up Fromm’s audibles.

Couldn’t call in and out of plays in the same way.

Aubie also did good job keeping their linebackers just far enough off los that it was never obvious whether they were run blitzing or pass covering. At least, not obvious to Chaney. Obvious to everyone else.

Basically we ran into stacked box every play but it was disguised bc linebackers were backed up.

You absolutely got our best shot. No doubt about it. That's best AU has looked all season & it's clear it shocked UGA. The dumb mistakes turned a fight into a blowout so I agree that a rematch would probably see a closer game. I still think AU wins if we meet in Atlanta again because I don't see how you fix the line of scrimmage issues before then. That's a recruiting problem right now

average WRs

Our WRs are pretty average, but Wims made a couple incredible catches. He's the only reason we were able to manage more than a field goal.

Wims was outstanding. Won 2 true 50/50 balls with amazing coverage. Great player.

Honestly was shocked Godwin didn't play a bigger role. I LOVED that kid coming out of high school & was pissed we didn't get the late flip. Thought he would make a play or 2 Saturday but not sure his name was ever called

Meh, those numbers are skewed.

I would love to see the numbers with our first line D. A lot of teams have gotten yards, in the fourth quarter, when we had our scrubs in. I even got playing time one game.

Neutral site would help against the pass rush because you could use a vocal snap count. Need to man the frick up in the run game, though.

Defensive front was OK until we started getting really worn down after the muffed punt. They need to play better too, though.
