The thread on the rant turned to shite quick.
What say the locals and Ole Miss folk on the SEC rant? I've been to an LSU Ole Miss game as a student at LSU but it's been a few years. This year I plan on coming in Saturday morning after spending the night in Tupelo. Not looking for tickets to the game unless they fall in my lap.
What are your restaurant and bar recommendations around the square to watch the game and enjoy good food and drinks?

The library is fun. They'll probably have an $80 cover though on gameday

Look for vodka water girl. If you already have herpes you'll enjoy it.

The Blind Pig, Funky's , or Proud Larry's.
They will all be busy especially after the game.

Buffalo Wild Wings is a good place, little pricy, but worth it in my opinon. Has a bar as well

For bars I'd recommend The Library if cover isn't too high, else I'd go to The Round Table.
And as far as restaurants go honestly everything is good, you need to try Ajax if you like Comfort Food

I hate going to Oxford for that reason. The covers at the bars are stupid high. You would think you are trying to get into a club in miami, but nope, it's some college bar with a PBR special.

Depending on what time you get back to Tupelo, hit up the Blue Canoe. They have the best beer selection in town and the food it freaking great. They're open until 1:00am on Saturday night.

I just looked at Blue Canoe on tripadvisor before I read your post here. The food there looks different but spectacular!

Dafuq happened to Oxford. Back in the 90s it was like $5 or free.

Its the Library and they do it because some people still pay the higher cover on big game weekends.
There are other options that do not charge cover or just a nominal one. If the OP just wants to sit in a restaurant and watch the game and go drink at a bar afterwards there are plenty of options on the square, in Tupelo, etc...

Damn. People down there must be desperate for stuff to do if they can get away with that.
For a DJ?

What's the high-end BBQ joint in Tupelo? I'd just camp there. Went last year and I can't wait to get back

Not looking for a young party crowd of all college students.

I had to go to Ole Miss for a conference two years ago and I recommend getting a burger from Neon Pig.

The library hasn't been fun since I was too young and dumb to realize what a good bar was. Pay a ridiculous cover to listen to the same DJ play the same stuff in an overcrowded sweet room and wait 20 min for a bartender to stop trying to pull arse long enough to get a drink.
If BBB is too crowded go to Momma joes a little further up north Lamar. It shares a duplex with a barbershop. It's great, assuming it's still there.

I'd recommend The Summit ( the old burgundy room) for a bar that's a little more relaxed. They've got tv's and it would be a good place to catch a game.
Library sucks, even before paying 20 or 30 bucks cover to walk in and stand shoulder to shoulder and pay 6 bucks for a bud light
