If LSU wins it will not be by scoring more than 20 points. It will be Auburn's O being shut down kinda like the Clemson game.
Yeah, if Auburn plays like they have recently, I'm not sure LSU can rise to that level this quickly and win. I can see LSU improving over the course of the year, but that'd be a really big jump.
But obviously if the offense executes like shite, Gus does something Gus-like or we have a bunch of turnovers again, we could absolutely lose.

especially if LSU can (they have the ability to) control the line of scrimmage.

The SEC office has already made it clear to AU that they want the showdown between AU & UGA and that the refs won't allow LSU to win

Of course we have a chance, it's fricking Auburn.

I hope LSU wins but there is this:
LSU's next opponent, Auburn, is ranked No. 11 overall in the coaches poll but reached the top 10 in the AP poll at No. 10.
Its been more than 22 years since LSU last defeated an AP top 10 opponent while being unranked. The last was Auburn in 1995. Here's a look at the matchups since the Auburn victory.
Jan. 1, 2003 (Cotton Bowl) vs. No. 9 Texas - L, 35-20
Oct. 9, 1999 vs. No. 8 Florida - L, 32-10
Oct. 2, 1999 at No. 10 Georgia - L, 23-22
Nov. 21, 1998 at No. 10 Notre Dame - L, 39-36
Sept. 16, 1995 vs. No. 5 Auburn - W, 12-6

I'm just looking for LSU to compete

I have seen plenty of AU/LSU games that were a lot harder than the favored side expected. I would not be surprised to see that again, at least for part of the game.
The concern I would have for LSU fans is the shape of the Oline. Injured players, even if they do return for this game may very well not be at full capacity, and it seems like the depth is really young. This is where the battle probably turns.

and the best coach in their entire history, who is still on their payroll, will be there laughing his arse off. should be glorious on a legendary level.

The folklore of Death Valley won't prevent a beat down this time.
The folklore of Death Valley hasn't given LSU a win ever.
LSU, like all other teams, regardless of where it plays, needs to be prepared, well-coached, and execute the game-plan. That has nothing to do with folklore.
With that being said, this game like many in the SEC, will come down to who controls the LOS. Given LSU's injuries and already thin depth, I just don't see that going in LSU's favor late in the game.
I don't see either team running away with this one, but probably a 24-17 type win, and likely for Auburn. But who knows? LSU could come out jacked up and AU runs right into a buzz saw.

Auburn might have the best run defense in the country (UGA, Clemson, Bama, UM and AU are all elite IMO), LSU has three freshman on the OL and Etling at QB and you think they pull this off?
I never said we would win, I said we could make it interesting if we can do certain things (force TO's, stop the run) Stop putting words into my mouth. I do believe anyone who thinks (which is clearly most AU fans) they are going to beat the shite out of us at home for the first time in close to 20 years, has another thing coming for them
