So the only thing you disagree with is that he won't get fired if he is 5-6 or worse.

Hang with me here. Absolute worse case scenario.

A&M beats us. Close game but we get the L.

Georgia arse rapes us in Jacksonville.

Drew Lock has a magical game and Mizzou puts it together and upsets us.

South Carolina and Muschamp come in super motivated and Bentley puts together a good game. Muschamp gets his revenge.

At this point is when the team gives up and the division in the fanbase ends for McElwain. Most people will be pissed at this point.

UAB comes in and gives us a hell of a game. We win something like 20-17.

FSU have turned it around and just clowns on us in the Swamp.

At this point we would be 4-7. The class would have defections. The noise in the system would be the loudest it's been since 2013 especially if there was no staff changes.

So answer me this and you can not say I am crazy and none of this would happen. If all this went down, you seriously believe he wouldn't get fired?

No, he wouldnt. We re missing 22% of our scholly players due to suspension or injury. He'd still get another year.

If the team were at full strength youd be on to something. But given current circumstances, theres no way you could hold any HC accountable for things out of his control

Fully aware. But thats irrelevant in this case.
How would it look to fire a HC in the first year out of 3 that he didnt win the East while losing many of his best players to injury or suspension???

There is nothing short of finding that the shark f*ing picture being found to be true that would get McElwain fired this year, it ain't gonna happen.

If all the worse case things happen that you list, he will be on a hot, hot seat, but he will be back.

I already said I wasnt a fan of the Mac hire, but he's the HC now and he deserves a fair shot of righting the ship. To fire him his first down year with all of the things happening to this team is pretty kneejerk.

I agree, if we lose out, he'll definitely be on the hot seat next year. But he'll be back though on a really short leash going forward.

Let me start off by saying I don't think Mac is getting fired this year or that the above scenario is likely. That said, I don't think it's impossible should the season fall apart like suggested. I'd put it more in the highly unlikely category right now.

Stricklin has cover, he wouldn't get much heat if Mac were to finish at something like 4-7. If the AD loses faith in the coach, he has to make a move and bring in someone he has confidence in. I think it's highly improbable, but I would never say never.

At the end of the day, I like Mac but think he's made several mistakes. He'll get the opportunity to correct them this offseason and we'll see where it goes.

Weren't injuries, the losses that came with those injuries, the demise of Muschamp?

When we lost to Ga Southern we had 32 players missing if I recall. Maybe it was 28. It was more than we have this year. And people didn't give a shite. They wanted his arse gone.

Where can Chip Kelly go and have a easier time recruiting? Miami but they are not looking for a head coach .

Dont get me wrong, id take Chip. But he'd have to keep some of our best recruiters or bring in some good ones with him to make it work.

I don't think Chip would be in my top 5 list . I am saying we are the best possible fit for him right now . We have tons of in state talent that would fit his offense. He can get more talent at UF then almost any job . He could hire good recruiters and get much better talent then he had at Oregon.

Chip would lose $18.5M if he coached.

Where did you hear that from ? On the main board there is a article saying that's how much he is will make and that anything else a team pays him will just be taken out of his buyout. If he coaches then he will not make anymore money . If that is true we should contact him to be the OC , give him full control of the offense and Mac and the rest of the staff can do all of the recruiting. It also means money wouldn't matter .
