Florida is struggling just like TJGator predicted due to incompetence of the coaching staff.

The coaching staff will use injuries and suspensions as excuses as they always do, but the fact remains, they are in over their head.

Change needs to be made, plain and simple. If Coach Mac doesn't make major changes this next off-season, I'm afraid next year will be his last year.

I'm officially on the TJ train now.

Respect.

Suspensions and injuries have more to do with struggles.

See above

I agree that if we don't see improvement by the end of 2018 changes need to be made.

What are you officially a Gator hater now?

Absolutely not. I will always cheer for us, despite my criticisms of the coaching staff.

In all kinds of weather.

What Tennessee fans were doing cheering against the Vols just to MAYBE get rid of Butch was sickening to watch. I hope we never have anyone in our true fan base doing that shite.

The way he gets treated for his comments are a main reason I hardly post on this board. I agreed with a lot of what he said. Some people just can't handle negativity in any fashion, even when it ends up being right.

The suspensions are real. They're not an excuse. They're having a negative effect on the team, and that's obvious. I'm interesting in seeing if Mac can right this ship. I'm not off the Mac train by any means. That opinion could change if this unravels, but he's had some unexpected things go against him and I don't think that he should be held liable for.

Based on the three year body of work, some things better be changed, but I do still think he's the guy for this job. I don't think he's in over his head in terms of running a program like Florida.

I believe most if not all of the guys suspended were recruited by Mac and did their criminal activities with him as the head coach . This seems a lot like Muschamp when some people let the injuries be an excuse then he had to be fired the next year because he did suck.

In my opinion Mac should have to Fire Nuss Monday and then if he can't improve the offense by the end of the year then he should be fired. There is no way that our offense would be this bad if we had a really offensive mastermind as the head coach .

Meh, I'm all for taking a dump on the shark humper, but expecting him to make a turnaround on offense without having the QB position figured out really seems silly. If he had a full roster, fine... but at some point you have to recognize that you don't have a great hand. Doesn't mean he should pack it in and drop the rest of the season or anything, but realistic expectations shouldn't be that he can make some kind of dramatic improvement on offense at this point in the season with the talent left that's not injured or suspended.

It's an unfortunate scenario as a fan if you truly think he's not the right person for the job though - see Butch Jones each of the past few seasons (for different reasons... expensive buyout, no AD to make the call, etc) - because you're in a situation rightly or wrongly where firing him would very likely paint the program and fanbase in a severely negative light. If you fire a guy in year 3 that won the division in the first 2 seasons, you're essentially saying that East titles don't mean shite, you have to beat Bama, and you don't have a long runway to figure out how to do it. Not sure there are an abundance of coaches looking to come take that job at that point... Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd imagine about the best coach possible to take the job at that point would be a Scott Frost type... betting on a mid-major coach to come in and make Florida work went well with Meyer but look around the country at the number of programs that have tried it and failed. I feel like UF is a better job than knee-jerking and firing Mac after one *bad* season and 2 meh performances that still won the division. If I can say that as a dawg fan, I don't see why a rational gator fan would disagree.

I'm not one looking to push Mac out the door (yet), but Scott Frost would probably be somewhere near the top of most lists. That's one name you hear thrown around a lot among Gator fans.

They don’t. They didn’t get us anywhere bowl wise and I’m pretty sure it didnt help recruiting.

I think he's probably going to Nebraska this year, but if presented with an opportunity at a much better job you never know. We've seen firsthand a coach skip out on the so-called "dream job". When he pulled himself out of the Oregon job he talked about how much loved recruiting from a school in Florida because he didn't have to travel all over the country. It was very similar to Meyer's comments about UF over ND.

Unfortunately even though imo he should be canned Stricklin isn't going to shell $18+M out to fire this staff. He sounds happy wrt to Mac so we're fricked

And my mind hasn't changed.

Gundy with UF talent...you're kidding right?

He would instantly have us competing for titles.

Take the obvious shot at Stoops and expect rejection.

Then go for this list.
Frost
Kiffin - Kiffin is a personality fit here. He was tossed into head coaching far too early, and suffered for it. Working under Saban was the best thing he could have done. He is doing well already down south and we damn well know he can recruit. This hire I would be game for. Guy is brilliant offensively, just needed to get more polished and mature.

Fleck
Strong - Texas he had very little shot. Program was in shambles, never got full support, wasn't a good fit. His work at USF and Louisville have been outstanding. I think he is a good option at Florida. Just needs a very good OC.

Bob Stoops and Chip Kelly are not likely but it's possible. UF gives Kelly the best possible job because the in state talent fits his offense . I was not a big fan of Gundy before but I would take him over the crap we have now . Scott Frost , Jeff Brohm and Fuentes at VT would all be up grades in my opinion and are very realist choices.
