LSU 2nd best program in SEC history

I've seen posts on this board that refer to LSU is an SEC doormat historically, and LSU fans seem to swallow it. I'm a Bama fan, but IMO, LSU has an argument for being the 2nd best program in the SEC historically. I just cut and pasted the following info from a post from another site. Though the primary subject is Bama, notice how many important categories where LSU is 2nd or not far from it. And LSU has more charisma, along with Bama, than any other SEC program. IMO, they are historically the ninth best program nationally.
In the poll era (1936-) Bama has as many AP and/or Coaches Poll NCs as the rest of the SEC combined: 11-11, LSU and UF second with 3 each, it would be more if we counted the pre-poll era; more SECCs than 2 and 3 combined: Bama 26 vs UT 13 & UGA 12, LSU has 11; more major bowl victories than 2 and 3 combined: Bama 25 vs LSU 11 & UGA 9, AU has 4; Bama has a winning record 13-0 against every other SEC member both on the road and at home (counting Legion Field as alternate home with AU), LSU 2nd at 10-3; Bama has at least one SECC in every (9) decade of the SEC's existence, LSU second with (7: 30s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 00s, 10s). The 35 years from '59-94 Bama won 7 NCs the rest of the SEC won one - UGA in '80. Finally, Bama has more unblemished (no loss or tie) regular seasons than the rest of the SEC combined, Bama 18-17 (UT 2nd with 5), and more unblemished seasons including post season than the rest combined, Bama 9-8 (3 tied for 2nd with 2 each). Criteria: post 1914 with at least 9 games played. The SEC began in 1933.

I understand your sarcasm , but history indicates that you will rebound. Hey man, I miss y'all. It was big time, prime time stuff each year. Of course having the edge helped, but it was a thrill because you didn't know.

That's cool and all but this reeks of insecurity.
Troy ... lol.
Sad.

Louisiana is going to produce some of the best talent coming out of high school and most of the top ones come to lsu. I'm not too worried about bouncing back, I just feel there is no excuse for being bad right now. Our AD just needs to go. He's the only thing stopping us from being competitive in almost every sport.

Historically, I'd say
Alabama
Tennessee
LSU/Georgia/Auburn
Florida/Ole Miss
Kentucky
Vanderbilt/Miss St
And this isn't a shot at Florida, either. I'd say that up until the 80's, Florida was on the same level as Kentucky. They're climbing up the list.
Tennessee used to be a clear #2, they're dropping into the pack. LSU had been pushing that level, but I think needed another decade like the last one to move into #2.

It is close, but LSU is above Auburn. We have a better record vs Bama and more modern undefeated seasons (counting bowl games). UT had it historically, but are a shell of their former self. Big 6

Sigh
You want to judge a team in a conference, you do it by how often they win said conference.
Bama
The stinking vols
Georgia
L6U
Florida
Barn
Not that difficult folks

Is LSU losing to Troy their equivalent to Bama losing to LA Monroe a few years ago?

Ironic isn’t it? Bama loses to a Sunbelt team from Louisiana and LSU loses to a Sunbelt team from Alabama. Only difference between the two us at the time of the defeat Bama was on the way up and LSU is on the way down.
