He really has those "oh shite" moments right now both good and bad but I think he has the makings of a really, really good player.

He's getting better. You'd have to retarded or stubborn as frick to not admit that the kid is improving week after week. I like that he's trying his absolute best to pass rather than scramble. He's comitted to being a passer. I know sometimes that makes people mad because a scramble lane was open, but at this point in his development that's a good thing. Also, the sideline MILF said that he spent all the defensive series talking to the coaches and not just standing by himself or sitting on the bench. Hallelujah. That's the right attitude.

I liked his touch on the deep ball. Once the timing comes together it will be dangerous

When we were down 21-7 and on our own 11 after a poor kickoff return, the season was on the line. Most everyone thought that we were toast. And then he did what he did. That play turned the game and gave us a shot at a legit season.

Any of y’all from this thread earlier want to eat crow????
LINK

Again on the overreacting, y’all trashed the kid after his first start against UCLA. Give them time to learn and develop before jumping off the deep end.

Hopefully this kid can grow over the years and be a really good player for us, but damn y’all got to give him a chance.

I am not on the special train, but I could see an All SEC player in a few years.

IMO he is a more accurate Kenny Hill. He might have a step on Kenny running as well. Will be a really good player. I would like to see him be more willing to get all our receivers involved. He locks in on Ausbon a lot. I do like his situational awareness for a young guy, and his ability to keep his eyes downfield when the play starts to breakdown.

With our luck, either Sumlin gets fired or Mond transfers after this season.

Or both.

No, we trashed Sumlin for taking a mediocre receiver (Ausbon), an average QB (Mond) and an unknown LB (Marchiol) in place of Stidham.

Mond

Completion %: 50.5
Passing Yards: 649
Rushing Yards: 157
Passing TDs: 6
INTs: 2
Rushing TDs: 1

Stidham

Completion %: 70.6
Passing Yards: 846
Rushing Yards: 33
Passing TDs: 3
INTs: 2
Rushing TDs: 1

Stidham has accumulated those stats with a better OL and Defense. Ausbon is our second leading receiver with 15 catches for 156 yards. Good decision IMO.

Needs a new haircut. But yes, seems like he has potential and he's a quick learner for a true freshman.

High 4/5 star recruit? Winning games as a true freshman in the SEC? I think he's well above average as far as incoming freshman go.

Yeah, he has potential. He needs to work a bit on his arm over the off-season. Dude has a lot of upside and it's not his fault he got thrown into the fire this early in his career.

I will say it's weird how many deep balls were soooo off target though. Deep balls like that are relatively easy to track for a receiver. He definitely needs work, but I'm not as worried as I was week 1.

Kenny's issue was he made too many shite decisions with the ball in big games. (that an he thought he could party like Johnny and still ball out)

Kenny was also the beneficiary of a redshirt year. I watched Kenny at A&M and again at TCU. This year is the first time I have seen him hit anything consistently that wasn't standing still.

Sure he had an extra year (as a true freshman backup to Johnny, he didn't RS). I just don't see how anyone can say Mond is a more accurate Hill at this point b/c he simply has not shown it.

Kenny could hit the slants and short routes fine. It was the deep balls he had issues with. Mond has just as many issues on those and hits the mid range passes at a lesser rate.

Yes he can improve and yes he has shown some very exciting flashes. Right now he is at Trevor Knight's accuracy levels at best. That's not a slam. It's just the truth.

Yep, they trashed the kid. Can't believe it takes hindsight, in this case two weeks into a 4 yr career, to realize that trashing a true fish QB after his first career start is idiotic. Don't forget this thread... LINK

I'm not saying he's an all sec player right now or that he doesn't deserve continuous evaluation but he clearly has the necessary tools to excel at this level

I could be dead wrong on my call there. I seriously just saw a noodle arm. But he seems to be improving mechanics as he gains confidence in the pocket. My guess is that with all of the pressure, he was forgetting to do a lot of the basics.

Wasn't he 3 of 17???? 3 of 17 isn't easy to do. Not really that much of an over reaction in my opinion. This was the first game where he really looked like he could play at a very effective level. He had a very good game Saturday.
