Lots to joke about where we're concerned, but wouldn't think that Kirk would be one of'em.

We lost a LB today, Dwaine Thomas is transferring.

Dwaine Thomas transferring out. Seems like he got passed by Buddy at SAM. Would be nice if we could have held on to him for experience / depth.
Oh and were 0-infinite since JDC on Louisiana recruits.

Donovan Wilson, Pat Lewis, Deshazor Everett...
I get your point but you are massively overstating it.

When he set the bar at Heisman winner JDC, of course it's going to be an overstatement.
But it does hurt to see guys like Speedy come in and leave without a lasting legacy.

Fair enough. It just seems like us landing kids from LA is like trading with the Lakers: buyer beware.

Johnny Hector was a rock solid contributor for us in the Wilson era

Would take this as great news barring an injury; Sumlin announced in his presser today that Keldrick Carper will be the 3rd safety in the game this year. That puts him ahead of Larry Pryor who is by no means a slouch. He said Carper has really come on as of late. Makes me feel much better about the safety position moving forward after this year. Not that we should be worried about that at the moment but still

Saw DCS as first string Nickel...ehhh.... what happened to Speedy Howard there?

Unsure. Also noticed multiple walk ons listed in the LB two deep. And we're only taking one this year? Sumlin you better strike it big this year bud. That simply wont cut it

Depth chart makes me pretty certain that Sumlin is not here next year. Looking at that, eight wins would take a miracle with our schedule

Our WR situation is so much worse than I thought if Damion Ratley, who makes Ricky Seals-Jones look like Calvin Johnson, is STARTING.

Damion ratley is consisentently our most open receiver. He's had an unfortunate amount of drops, but the qbs must see things in practice to trust him.

I'm less excited for this season than I have been for an Aggie season in a long time. I just don't feel any internal optimism. I'm sure that'll change if we beat UCLA, but if we lose, I think we're going to have a 6 win season at best.

That goes without saying. A defensive back isn't going to spend a lot of effort covering a receiver he knows isn't going to catch the ball.

I would be shocked if UCLA wasn't awful this season due to the starters they lost and the starters they are losing to injury right now.

Call me crazy but I think its a bit premature to melt over the release of a depth chart that isn't accurate (by design). Also, what is revealed there that we haven't known about this team all offseason?
We knew that Ratley had been running with the first team and that a freshman would need to play him out of that role, which no one has had the chance to do since we haven't played yet.
We knew that LB depth sucked.
Also, why the worry about DCS at Nickel? We found out he doesn't man up well outside so we moved him in. I see that as a smart adjustment. Maybe he has excelled there, its a completely different position. If we had Dono playing corner everyone would think he sucked too.

First game is this weekend, and I haven't had one conversation about it with my dad, brother or co-workers. It's depressing. Everyone is beyond even bitching about the roster or coaches, just completely apathetic.

I'm mostly leaning the opposite direction. I'm not expecting great things, but my dark ages for Aggie Football was over when we joined the SEC. After my graduation I moved to CA. I basically couldn't watch any of the games because we were never on national tv. I've moved several times since then, but was always outside of the BIG XII footprint and got to see very few games.
We still have to play the games. I'll be happily watching.
