I was watching 2014 highlights and he's a different back. He was so explosive in 2014, he lost that burst and elusiveness is 2016.
UNC was an outlier, but was also his first game back. Maybe he played a little scared the rest of the way.

He reminds me of lattimore, great back better person. I hope he stays healthy and has long career in the nfl after his senior year.

Good to see him healthy again. Was tough to see that even as an LSU fan. Brought me back to seeing marcus lattimore's injury live on TV. Almost put a tear in my eye. Hate seeing young kids suffer career altering injuries. Hopefully Chubb returns to full health and gets drafted in the first round....behind guice.
Sorry, had to get my jab in.

he did the shite pretty easily too

Yeah, I didn't do a great job of clarifying. This has way more to do with his knee exploding two years ago than anything else. Being able to trust it enough to squat 600 is a good sign for us hopefully.

He was about 2 inches shallow from parallel

He played fairly tentative last season. Didn't look much all flexible. While his lower body was strong, it was a mechanical type of strength and not that nimbleness backs need to maximize their yards.
I think his mental apprehensiveness is behind him considering he didn't have any true setbacks injury wise. Too much strength with your legs isn't always a good thing for your joints.

quote:Chubb was also doing 645 in high school...plus I dont think this was really his "max" i think it was just a limit that they have for him...look how easy it lifts it
KP was doing 605lb in high school, lots of guys do this weight, Chubb just got back from injury.

Nick was a physical freak in high school, no reason that should have changed because he tore some ligaments in his knee. Last year there were a couple of issues. He wasn't in top physical condition because he spent a good amount of the offseason rehabbing before he could start doing his normal intensive workouts. Plus, he had to regain full confidence in his knee for lateral movements. The former should be resolved now and I expect he'll be at or very close to his old explosiveness. We'll have to see how long it takes to regain his confidence/cutting ability.

Nick Chubb is not only a great player, he's an awesome person.
Seems that other SEC fans know this about him, which is awesome. Then you have other fans trying to compare other backs to him; they clearly miss the point. To those "fans" I'd suggest they listen to a few interviews with NC.
Obviously, I'm an UGA fan, but I'd respect a student athlete like Chubb, no matter who he played for.
Anyone trying to compare most other SEC RBs to Nick after his injury and rehabilitation is missing the point. The point is he's a great example of a humble, team player, and a leader in the locker room and on the field.
I wish him nothing but the best.

Guice squats 650. That's cute though.
Always thought LSU fans were pretty cool. Guess not all.

I remember in 2014, when we were dreaming big and word came that your starter RB was injured. Then this pic of him in high school surfaced. He ran 38 freaking times for only 3.8 per carry, but we could not stop that freak on third down for our life.
