Mid-size trucks

I'm looking to get a truck but trying to decide between a Tacoma, Frontier, or Colorado. I've owned a Tacoma before and loved it but it was one of the older models. I know the Tacoma and Colorado are the two most popular and the Frontier is a bit outdated and lower on price. Any suggestions or experiences with these trucks.

I'd go with the Toyota just because of the reliability and resale value.

Toyota is coming out with a new Tacoma in the next couple of years. Current model is looking dated. Still think I'd pick it over the other two.

I work at the Colorado truck plant. When they came out with the new diesel engine they detuned the truck way down because how much power it was making, it would literally fry the tires off and it still puts out 360ft lbs of tourque out of a 4 cylinder turbo diesel

Tacoma is the easy #1 on that list.

the new tacoma is great plus the residual value is great on them

The Toyota Tacoma is the best truck ever made. But if you can save some money, I'd go for the Frontier. The Colorado looks nice but don't know any owners.

The Tacoma is the mid-size GOAT but for what they want for them today, get a full size.

I remember thinking how much my Tacoma cost 10 years ago.. now 237k miles later I've decided I'm just gonna keep it forever.

I have a Colorado. I just couldn't pull the trigger on a Tacoma for 35K. I paid $20,580 for a 2016 Colorado WT Extended Cab 4 cylinder last October. I just wanted a basic truck as my daily driver. No issues with mine so far.
If I needed a real truck I would go full size.

I can only offer a couple pieces of info on mid-size trucks.
My girlfriend drives probably a 10 year old Dakota 4 door. It's a great truck, I'd get one, but I need a good gas mileage vehicle to offset the terrible mileage on my toy jeep.
My dad bought a brand new TRD Tacoma in 2010 - 2010 model. He paid 26k out the door. He drove it for almost 6 years, put 50k miles on it, and then traded it in for a brand new platinum F150. The dealer gave him 26k credit on his Tacoma.
Quite possibly, the only vehicle that has a more absurd resale market than the Tacoma is the McLaren F1.

Resale on a Toyota would be much better a few years down the road. No complaints on my 2004. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Icondude.gif)

Will a mid-size truck look proportional with your current set of truck nuts? You will probably have to get a smaller set.

The tacoma looks good.

Tacoma, hands down. Got my first one back in 2010, it was an 06 with 50k miles on it, bought it for $12,000. Added a couple things over the years (new sound system, exhaust, etc), drove it for 85K miles, and sold it in November of '15 for $12,500. They're excellent vehicles.
Only reason I sold it was to get one of the new models. I've got 45K on my '16, no problems to speak of.
