Making the transition to a 3-4 defense this offseason, Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema turned to the NFL to fill his defensive line coach opening, hiring New York Jets defensive line assistant coach John Scott Jr. Tuesday afternoon.
Scott Jr. spent the last two seasons with the Jets, beginning as a defensive quality control coach in 2015 before being promoted to defensive line assistant coach. Prior to his time in the NFL, Scott Jr. spent time as a defensive line or outside linebackers coach at Texas Tech, Georgia Southern, Missouri State, Norfolk State and his alma mater Western Carolina.
“With our transition to the 3-4 scheme, John was a candidate that I came across early in the process,” Bielema said. “After his interview and further research on his familiarity with the 3-4, he rose to the top and will be a great addition to our defensive staff.”
Running a 3-4 as its primary defense, the Jets led the NFL in rushing touchdowns allowed and red zone defense in 2015, while finishing second in rushing defense and fourth in total defense. Both defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson and cornerback Darrelle Revis, who played for defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads at Pitt, earned Pro Bowl honors. Scott Jr. was promoted to defensive line assistant prior to the 2016 season in which the Jets finished fifth in the AFC in rush defense and rushing touchdowns allowed. Defensive tackle Leonard Williams earned a Pro Bowl nod.

Wasn't he defensive quality control for the Jets? Pepper Johnson was the DL coach in 2016. Replaced by Robert Nunn last month.

He was also the DL Coach at Texas Tech in 2014 when we completely destroyed them on the ground.

Unfortunately this won't impress anyone here. The rant will rip it apart. You would've been better to let them troll us.

When the OP has to lie about him, then you know it's a bad hire.

here is the terrible intellect at work rule.
C'mon man!
Enos was known by very few prior to CBB hiring him as our OC! I remember him being made fun of for that specific hire.
And... What do most say about Enos now?
Several, GA, LSU, etall have wanted to challenge the non compete contract Enos has signed. Why? He was a no name hire.. right?

Enos was a head coach and before that known as a great play caller as an OC. Bert hired an ASSISTANT DL coach. He also coached the worst dline I have ever seen at Texas Tech. Isn't that the same line ya'll ran for about 700 yards against?

This is only a position coach....ya'll acting like we hired him as head coach or something.
Slow down a little.
At Arkansas, we don't promote D-Line position coaches to Head Coach so it isn't that big of a deal.
