What the hell is the playoff committee gonna do? The precedent has been WIN your conference and you're in. Now it seems like they're reniggin and changing the rules to ensure OhioSt gets in. There is no set guidelines and the committee is biased and gonna change rules to fit their agenda every year. This ain't right...only a matter of time before the SEC gets screwed.

Alabama and Clemson are a lock. The Committee has been in love with Ohio State all season. Even when they looked barely average late in the season they gushed over them like CNN over Hillary. I think they are trying to find a reason to drop Washington and take Penn State and Ohio State. If so, I hope Bama plays Penn State first round. That'll be a great game to watch.

I have the feeling they are gonna try to squeeze Ohio State and Michigan in with Bama and Clemson to try to sell the playoffs. You can rest assure, this wouldn't be a conversation if it was SEC teams. NCAA and ESPN trying to sell ratings. Bring on a real playoff and let's go to 16 teams with 4 power conferences with top 4 getting in. Conference champ gets 1 seed, loser gets 2 seed and let's see who the real champ is.

16 is too much... 8 is the magic number

4 "power conferences" would make for a real playoff. Then everyone could scrap the 2-3 FCS games and 1-2 bye weeks. It's time to tier the NCAA off again. There is NO reason 100 teams are declared D1 when maybe 40 have a shot.

My best guess is it's going to be Alabama, Clemson, Washington, and Ohio State. Penn State gets left out.

Correct. That would be perfect.
The field will be as it is:
1 Bama
2 OSU
3 Clemson
4 Washington
Bumping Washington (Pac 10 champ) who just thumped the shite out of the #8 team in the country for a 2 loss Michigan or Penn State is not defendable.
I could get behind dropping OSU for Penn St as PSU won head to head and also the conference championship. I think that is where the rub is. But it won't happen because of media love. I would love to OSU bumped mainly because I detest Myer.

Ohio State should absolutely be dropped for Penn State. I honestly don't know how you can make an argument for Ohio State over Penn State other than the eye test. I honestly think the committee picks Penn State but I agree they love Ohio State and will think long and hard before they do that.

Penn State has 2 losses
I always though the playoffs would cause more controversy than it solved due to disagreement of the last spot(s). It doesn't matter if it 4 teams or 8 or 16. IE March madness has 64 teams and there at teams left out that feel they should have been selected.

But they played one extra game on a big stage against a division champ in their conference championship game and won. I think that speaks louder than a second loss but that's just me.

Can someone please live blog the playoff committee selection results here? I'm interested how it's all going to shake out, but don't want to break my non-game espn boycott..

And that's a fair argument. I just disagree that Ohio State doesn't have an argument.
I think most people would consider beating Michigan more impressive than beating Wisconsin even though that was a hone game for Ohio State. And came down to a judgement spot. Ohio State would say they were ranked 2nd and beat the number 3 ranked team so how can you drop them to 5?
I hate both teams btw

Here's what they should do.
1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Washington
4. Penn State
Penn State's head to head win over OSU plus the Big 10 Championship is more important than one extra loss. But I think they will likely give the Big 10 spot to OSU because the committee will apply the so called eye test and of course OSU's only loss is to a good Penn St. team. Penn St. screwed up big time losing to Pitt. But objectively, Pittsburg beat 3 pretty good teams: Penn St., GT and Clemson.

Fair point. I hate both teams too haha it's a lose-lose situation because either Urban or James Franklin will be in the playoff.

I still remember when these same assholes.... the same exact assholes were droning about why UGA didn't belong in the NC game because they didn't win their conference championship game, even though the eye test had UGA peaking. The same fricking assholes.

I thought the playoffs would enhance the regular season rather than devalue it as playoff distractors claimed. I was right. Going to eight will have even more of that effect.
In regard to bitching about being left out, you are right, there will always be some of that. But like the March Madness there will be a flurry of that and then it will go away. If it goes to 8.
