Catch your breath. The Alabama bye week is here after eight Saturdays of football.
After taking this week away from competition, the Crimson Tide begins the final stretch with a trip to No. 19 LSU. The Tigers have won three straight since Les Miles was fired.
A 38-21 dismissal of Ole Miss on Saturday saw Leonard Fournette return with a 284-yard rushing game. So the Tigers are finding a stride before Alabama comes to Baton Rouge on Nov. 5.
This game will match a few elite running attacks with passing schemes that have struggled. Both defenses are designed to stop the run, so it could end up as a battle of who can balance the offense in the matching bye weeks.
So as the two begin a week of rest, take a first look at how Alabama and LSU compare statistically.

To get a better barometer of LSU you just might want to take the last 3 games....which are of course since Les was fired and Etling has been Quarterback. If you think this is the same team then you haven't watched the games.

Yup, statistically Bama has a decent advantage pretty much across the board

Op knows this. I like stats though. Have an upvote. Bama has owned us the last 5 games so I'm in no position to talk shite to them. Here is to a good game, I hope.

The most stunning stat he mentioned in all that is that BAMA is only +0.5 turnovers per game. I swear it seems like so much more. That defense is always making plays...and special teams.

As a Bama fan... I have all the respect in the world for LSU. F the stats, Bama better come in ready to play... because LSU will.

This is true. Bama's offense can and has turned the ball over, to the point where it almost negates the defense's turnovers. Still the defense scores and it is thing of beauty.

Bama is the superior team. Bama is the superior team no matter who they're playing honestly.
It's not a math test though and sometimes the results don't add up. LSU has a puncher's chance, but realistically, Bama should win the game.

Interestingly enough, we don't have THAT many turnovers from our defense. It's just that we have been able to capitalize on ours WAY more than other teams.
If someone was tracking "points off of turnovers", Alabama would probably be leading that category.

As fast as Alabama's defense takes it away from the other team, Jalen Hurts gives it right back. The only difference is that Alabama scores of their take-aways, the other team doesn't. But Alabama in general and Hurts in particular seem more than happy to give it away.
