Maybe. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that the three defenses you faced in those games were abysmal.

Ole Miss - 107th
Only Southern Miss is highly ranked on D, but that's smoke and mirrors - take out the 41 yards vs Savannah State (WHO?) and their ranking plummets. This team gave up 400+ yards to Kentucky and 532 yards and 55 points to UTSA - a team averaging 29 points and 391 yards per game.
So, yes, LSU is improved... but they've demonstrated that against three completely horrible defenses. They've got Alabama, Florida and Texas A&M - all with above average defenses - to prove that these improvements are legit, and not just the benefit of playing horrid defenses.

I'm one who pays a lot of attention to the NCAA statistics and rankings. I would normally agree with you however, this year with the coaching change, it is much closer in my opinion.
LSU did a better job against OM than Alabama did. The improvements at LSU are hard to quantify because they haven't peaked yet.
Bama just losing your defensive player to a broken leg is a massive loss.
I see this game being very very close. Maybe a slight advantage to LSU.

I'd normally agree, but Miles vs Orgeron coached LSU team have been night and day. Stats are fun and all, but it's not painting the real picture here.

Or just based on Tiger Stadium, where Alabama is 26-9-2. Where does the advantage lie? Call it close all you want and I don't think you'll find an argument from anyone, but I'm very curious about this advantage

No way to really know this. As has already been mentioned, the 3 under Orgeron have looked a lot better offensively than the 3 under Miles, but Etling has faced 3 of the most porous defenses in the country, and Auburn. So that could be legit, or it could be fools gold. We'll find out how good (and tough) he is against Alabama.

Yeah no defense that allows that much running between the tackles is average. I think this will be the best defense Alabama and obviously LSU has faced this season I think Auburn may have the best defense in the SEC.
