I wonder at what point over the weekend he realized this deal probably costs him his job? Every one of us makes mistakes, but they usually don't affect the entire college football landscape.

This has been discussed ad nauseum, but anybody who thinks LSU is going to give up a home game isn't understanding of what that involves. The boosters who make $$$ on those weekends will never stand for it.

The SEC is going to have to fix this with $$$. Lots of it...They are going to have to play this game on 12/4 and there is no telling what it will cost them to get that done. If I'm Sankey, I'm considering telling everyone we are tabling this until 11/6. Hope LSU loses to Olemiss or Bama and UT losses to both Bama and USC (by some miracle) and UF beats ARK. I'm praying every morning and night to thread the needle so the game won't matter. If all of that doesn't happen - look out. The bill is coming due and his buddy Foley will be nowhere to be found.

I actually feel bad for the guy and try to learn from things like this. You work you're whole life to be in a position to make a decision like that and in the heat of the moment with a potential natural disaster oncoming, you just drop the ball. The proper plan B should have been in place early in the week but it wasn't.

Bottom line is I want to see LSU play UF. I believe LSU was in a really good spot and think we would have beat them by a TD or more. Who knows how this ends up, but karma can be a...

Lol if you thank anyone outside of LSU cares. He won't lose his job about this and the game won't matter because LSU is a mediocre team that just fired its head coach and starts a QB who couldn't play at Purdue. They aren't contending for the West. LSU is probably my second favorite SEC team if I had to pick one if UGA blew up or something but the fans have been insufferable about this.

I just love how steadfast you are in maintaining a home game as scheduled while blaming UF for trying to do the exact same thing

It seems both teams fear the Nov. 19 matchup. Neither one can afford another loss.

If UT loses to Bama then UF beats Georgia, I would imagine Florida would just shut down negotiations at that point and take their chances on winning out.

Sankey won't lose his job because it takes 10 SEC AD's voting to remove him to fire him.

Sankey's inaction benefits Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama, Arkansas, and A&M.

That's 5 schools right there. Sankey is bulletproof unless the hogs defect.

At this point, just like it's been the entire time, this screw up is on the SEC and Sankey. He should have threatened UF with forfeit or should have made a decision earlier in the week. He did neither. UF should not but punished at this point (though they deserve it). Likewise, LSU, A&M, UGA and others should not have their entire schedules messed up to accommodate the incompetence of UF and the SEC--perhaps it would have been different if it were the result of a disaster, but this is a man-made clusterfrick. The SEC needs to let it play out because the results are a byproduct of their incompetence.

Starting next year, should have an open date after thanksgiving weekend w the SEC championship the following weekend, the weekend then could always be available for makeup games.
