I dont think petrino is realistic. he has a good thing going in a p5 conference. He is in the playoffs if he beats clemson and a bunch of shitters. he wont come here to deal with this clusterfrick and UL will match unless we pay like 7m

Herman? possibility I reckon if houston does not get a big 12 invite. Chances of herman go down drastically if they get an invite. He gets a fat check and a P5 conference, but still plausible.

Kiffin is a real possibility. Its obvious to me he wants back in the HC game. The problem to me is we're almost guaranteed to get into a bidding war with LSU (and this is going to be a problem with most people we go after who are worth a shite tbh).

What other up-and-comers are out there at quality mid-majors making noise? No one in the sun belt really comes and jumps out at me except Georgia Southern's coach and that's the only G5 conference I'm reasonably versed in.

Any one else in the AAC worth a shite besides Herman?

Question is, who wants to go toe to toe with Saban in-state?

I dont think this is as big of a deal as people think it is unless youre talking about yoinking someone from a P5 conference who already has something great going like Petrino

Briles is the best coach in the market. Not even close. But Gus will not be fired this year, so be mad.

Bobby Wallace?

I think there needs to be someone that can truly come in and take over and push the BS politics out.

That can't be an up and comer. Has to be someone you really bid for or offer an obscene amount of money to.

JH will be end-of-the-year-2012 empty for most of the year if true and there's no improvement this season, but you may be right simply because there arent many good options right now

Saban has gone fully national with his recruiting. Going "toe to toe" with Saban means playing him once a year and fighting for a handful of regional recruits. We're not even an option for a lot of the kids he's recruiting (California, Michigan, etc, etc).

Keep in mind LSU, USC, and UTa might be open, too.

I think it has to be someone with more experience at HC and running a program than Gus. No more people with like 1-2 seasons as HC.

Dispelling the politics is important but only a Saban could do that. The politics are entrenched for a reason.

I've been telling a coworker who is a hug AU fan we need to take a look at Mullen. We know the guy can develop a qb. Imagine what he could do with talent on our roster compared to what hes had at MSU. frick the up and comers, go ater a guy w a proven track record. I think he's one of the best in the league, just don't have the talent

We don't even have Carl Lawson to fall back on. I didn't hear his name called all night.

You do realize he lost to South Alabama, no? He has been coaching at MSU longer than they have been a program.
