I would think after a true freshman rolls up 4 TDs in a little over a quarter the battle would be over

It will be settled Saturday. Hurts will probably start, and if he shows out, then it's his. Barnett will still get more reps than our usual backups.

Nobody will know until they are really challenged for at least the first 2 quarters...what a great position to be in for Saban!

I've been hesitant to mention it because I know I'll suffer the wrath of the Hurts fan train, but I think Barnett played just as well.
I do think that Hurts' running ability gives him a bit of an edge, all other things equal. But, I'm also not fully convinced he's won the job. He did have two turnovers, and Barnett's passing was every bit as good, if not better than Hurts'.
In short, I think we need a larger sample size.
