Are you predicting a big year for New Mexico St. or did you just forget about them?

I think most every SEC team has a "chance" to sniff the Top 25... heck, Arkansas, Auburn and Miss St. have just as good of a shot as A&M.

I mean look at Arkansas' schedule...

Week 1- La Tech
Week 2- @ #13 TCU
Week 3- Texas State
Week 4- Texas A&M (in Dallas)
Week 5- Alcorn State
Week 6- Alabama

If Arkansas can beat TCU in Fort Worth, they'll be ranked with a record of 2-0. If they lose to TCU respectably, yet beat Texas A&M and all of the cupcakes, they'd be ranked heading into the Alabama game with a 4-1 record.

Essentially all Arkansas has to do is not blow it against La Tech, Texas State, and Alcorn State... and win at least one game between TCU and Texas A&M and they'll in all likelihood be ranked at some point between now and when Alabama travels to Fayetteville.

Next, take Mississippi State. State's schedule is completely top-heavy, with nearly all of their toughest games coming at the end. Check out their slate:

Week 1- South Alabama
Week 2- South Carolina
Week 3- @ #5 LSU
Week 4- @ UMass
Week 5- OFF
Week 6- Auburn
Week 7- @ BYU
Week 8- @ Kentucky
Week 9- Samford

Even if State loses to LSU, it possible they could be ranked in the Top 25 when Auburn comes to town in Week 6, with a record of 3-1. There aren't too many 1-loss teams by Week 6. Even if they are not ranked, a win over Auburn would surely push them into the rankings.

Even if they lose to both LSU AND Auburn, they are looking at a very easy road to a 6-2 start, and typically a 2-loss team from the SEC during the month of November is going to be in the rankings. I would actually he surprised if MSU is NOT ranked in the Top 25 at some point this year. Of course they close with Texas A&M, Bama, Arkansas, and Ole Miss.... so the chances of them being ranked at the end of the year are slim, but its possible.

Next, look at Auburn. Auburn is a bit tougher since they are the opposite of MSU. Their toughest slate is at the beginning of their schedule.

Week 1- #2 Clemson
Week 2- Arkansas State
Week 3- Texas A&M
Week 4- #5 LSU
Week 6- La Monroe
Week 7- @ Miss. St.
Week 8- OFF
Week 9- Arkansas

Ways for Auburn to enter the Top 25:

*Beat Clemson... fairly unlikely, but possible.
*Lose to Clemson respectably, but beat Arkansas State and Texas A&M... assuming A&M beats UCLA. If Auburn loses a close one to #2 Clemson, and then beats a Top 20 Texas A&M team, Auburn will be ranked when LSU comes to town in Week 4. That's fairly likely to happen.
*Lose to Clemson and LSU, but beat Arkansas State, Texas A&M, La-Monroe, and Mississippi State. Auburn would be 4-2 with Arkansas coming to town in Week 9. A 4-2 team from the SEC with their only two losses coming against Top 5 teams has a very real possibility of being ranked in the Top 25..... beat Arkansas in Week 9, and a 5-2 Auburn team would definitely be ranked.
