Kentucky hates Coach Nick Saban.

Now it appears that Coach Bryant actually won seven NC during his coaching career, not six. That means Coach Saban suddenly has to win two more NCs to tie him, and three to surpass him.

Kentucky hates Coach Nick Saban.

So they could choose to make the trophy however they wanted to .... and they chose to make a football shaped disco ball.

Alabama claims retro national championships.. this was awarded in 1980... Ole Miss does it, UGA does it, TAMU does it... not sure what other schools do it...

Auburn thought about it.

It looks like the BCS trophy if it had been put through a microwave.

Thanks Bama.

I really do hate what Alabama's retroactive title claiming in the 80's did to CFB. Mostly the '41 non-title with a #20 AP ranking and losses to Miss St and Vandy. What an embarrassment. It de-legitimizes all the other earned ones.

How long until Bama fans start claiming it because of Bear?

Our football facilities now match those of the Big 6, therefore our claims of tradition should, too. In order to go full gump, we need to erect a statue of Bear Bryant in the center of one of the roundabouts at Commonwealth Stadium (maybe it should be Bear Bryant Stadium). We're in the game, baws.

We're just fully exercising our "Why not?" team slogan.

For the record Kentucky had a great season that year. I would fully support their claim to a national title but they lost to one of the other teams that claims it.

If Kentucky had beaten the Vols that year they deserve the title. Were they a great team? Oh God yes. If they had managed to keep Bryant from wandering they'd likely have a shite load of titles in basketball and football.

Can Kentucky win a football championship? Yes. They have the recruiting footprint and I think the right coach can take them there but it will take some time to build things up.
