If that were the case in no one even knowing what State Auburn was in...then that would be a HUGE victory for us. Ask every American in the U.S. what they think about having to live in Alabama right now. Not good...for your pride and glory "Capstone" University.

quote:Yea, Auburn hasn't won two SEC Championships and been to two National Championships (winning one) in the last 6 years, have they? None of that happened.
If Auburn gave up the iron bowl they would quickly become as irrelevant as Missisippi State.

Auburn would be agreeable to just about anything to not have to face Alabama/Saban every year.

ITT: Auburn fans throw in the towel and beg for an easier schedule.
Pretty much, but they mask it by waxing poetic about the beauty of Saturdays in Knoxville and Gainesville.

Outside of 2008, 2011 and 2012, the Iron Bowl has been close every year since Nick Saban arrived at Alabama. Two of those seasons just so happened to be some of the worst in Auburn history, so just about every team beat up on them. The Iron Bowl has been generally competitive even given Nick Saban being at Alabama and Auburn going through 3, possibly 4, coaching changes.
2007: 17-10, Auburn
2008: 36-0, Alabama
2009: 26-21, Alabama
2010: 28-27, Auburn
2011: 42-14, Alabama
2012: 49-0, Alabama
2013: 34-28, Auburn
2014: 55-44, Alabama
2015: 29-13, Alabama

NCAA sanctions and a dumbass for a head coach, had a lot to do with the six game losing streak.
I hope the Auburn fans enjoyed those golden years of Auburn football.
Fun fact Alabama has won more national championships in this decade then Auburn has in their ENTIRE HISTORY.
Now that my friends is hilarious.

Auburn might think they could live without the Bama game, but they would badly miss it every other year when they have these predictable bad years. The Iron Bowl has always been something for them to look forward to when they suck.

Auburn is desperate not to have to play LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, and A&M every year.
The lie about the rivalries is their cover. UF was a pathetic team for the first 100 years of the program, and the AU-UT rivalry was only an annual thing for about 35 years (late 50's to 1991) and most of the home games were in Birmingham.
They are terrified of trying to continue to compete in the west.

No beat Bama= no SEC Championship/ no National Championship... You NEED Bama whether you like it or not. Bama does not really NEED The Barn...whether you like it or not

But when we finally had the opportunity (thanks to the "new and improved" SEC scheduling format), we did beat them. Spurrier and Urban left the field crying. Even in their Championship years they always had one loss...Auburn kicked them in their nuts. Loved those games!

That's not some kind of domination like many like to suggest.

2010 and 2013 come to mind.

I would disagree.

I would never ever give up the Iron Bowl for any reason. Neither would I want it played at any other time other than the last regular season game of the season. Win or lose, the presence of the game is too important to Auburn to have anyone screw around with it.

There is no reason for Auburn to move to the east. Not sure why everyone wants to

Like I said, it's not so much your team. We love great competition.
...but your trashy State and football fans are another issue. The whole State is only known for Alabama Football. That is it, except for:
Things like poisoning trees (due to Football), murdering people (due to Football), and sexually molesting other people (due to Football)...and trying to leap on and kick other people during a football game (a.k.a "Assault on another innocent individual"--we call it a "Flying Lady" on the Plains) (due to Football) and attempting to close another Football's Football program down (UAB), against their wishes, that your University owned due to "financial concerns"...that would take money away from your own Football program...and something, something...more Football.
I am getting tired of listing more things.
Hate your football-driven State and hate your cheap University.
Auburn would not miss Alabama for a second. Let's move East boys. War Eagle, and let's have some fun playing our more traditional rivals!
